Shackleton Barracks was abandoned by the MOD in 2008 after a history dating back to 1941 when it was constructed for the RAF Coastal Command. The airfield was in continuous use by the RAF and Royal Navy, and in 1963 the main runway was extended to accommodate a V-bomber Operation Readiness Platform. In 1971 the airfield was handed over to the army who needed real estate in Northern Ireland to accommodate the thousands of troops deployed under Operation Banner and for the newly formed Ulster Defence Regiment. In 2003 the barracks was the HQ for 8 Infantry Brigade until its closure in 2008.
Most images are from a visit to North Camp in the summer of 2016 when the site effectively lay empty.

Some students got to experience life as school administrators at Country Place Elementary. A silent auction held earlier in the month to raise funds for Water Day later this year included prizes where students could become "Principal for the Day," "Secretary for the Day" and "P. E. Coach for the Day." Evan Acevedo got to tour the principal's office, speak to the Superintendent on the phone and read to a Kindergarten class as part of his role of Principal for the Day. Audrey Wortham helped to answer phone calls to the school and to greet visitors that came to the campus as part of her role as Secretary for the Day.

An odd-couple of engines switch out cars at the east end of Rotterdam Junction. The 3491 has been calling the Pan-Am Southern its home for quite some time now, the SD70M-2 is a visitor and an unexpected find.
I missed the Switch photo contest deadline by less than 30 minutes because I didn’t realise Korean time is ahead of ours oTL I thought I had enough time to finish up a faceup commission but I was wrong :c
