This switcher is an MLW S-3 built for Bathurst Power & Paper in 1953 which Ivaco Rolling Mills acquired in 1999; The cab was rebuilt at some point. It clearly has not been in use for some time now. This is a bit southwest of the mill.

Marquette Rail's Z151 switches Van's Logistics on their way north out of Grand Rapids. To the right of the train is the former Pennsylvania RR right of way, which parallels the MQT (former Pere Marquette) north to Comstock Park. A pair of ex CP SD40-2s and a former B&O GP38 provide the power on this day.

L&C 2369 sits silently just off Lancaster Highway in Richburg, SC. This unit currently belongs to the Lancaster and Chester shortline. Originally built for the southern railway, this unit served its time for NS then eventually the NPBL (an NS Subsidiary) 2369 would be auctioned off and L&C would be the buyer. This unit now spends what is most likely its final years of service switching out the L&C industrial park.

A sunny afternoon in the quaint border town of Fort Erie, Ontario finds CN 2100 (née CNW 8553) sitting on the once busy shop track. Today, Ft. Erie is all but a shadow of it's former self, and the vintage switch lock is one of the few reminders from the once bustling yard.

Fully Charged Live 2021 (aka Fully Charged Outside) was the latest event to be held at the Farnborough International site in Farnborough, Hants. The three-day event hosted a huge selection of electric vehicles including two PSV products. There was also an internal Park & Ride bus service operating using 8 buses over the course of the event with the addition of an occasional trip to Farnborough (Main) railway station.

I visited on the overcast Saturday and returned on the sunny Sunday. For the record, buses seen were:

It is hard to believe only a dozen deckers in Leeds retain the first olympia livery in January 2023. The transformation of the fleet into the smart green livery has happened at an impressive pace driven through fleet investment and transfers out. The majority of those left in the old colours mix in on Bramleys routes, mainly the 19 & 56. One of the last 37650 is shown here with the "wide" advert which seemed popular at one time.

Its time to put those thinking lights on and bury my head in the books so rich with knowledge and full of learning. I have been so lifted from the comments you sweet caring people made on my previous photo that i just couldn't resist to upload today! Couldn't thank you all personally but I'm seriously so happy to meet so many wonderful people here. You guys know who you are. The support here really touched me and I'm still here, and will continue to try as this is my outlet and my inspirations come to life through taking this journey. Going to Uni and being a Mum at the same time is hard work 'big sigh' Not sure what i can handle at the moment so will just take things one day at a time.....

Have a wondeful weekend all you lovely Flickr People! :)

A classic NdeM switch lock is still protecting the switch at the junction between the línea FA mainline and the branch to the coastal town of Progreso, which has been abandoned for over 25 years. The rails were removed on the northern part of the line long ago, but a few sections remain mostly intact within Mérida city limits.

switch :: 太虛[TAEHEO]

Halloween SPECIAL ORDER .2013

I couldn't tell what model this switcher is but it serves the Cargill grain elevator complex in Gilman, Illinois, adjacent to the Chicago Subdivision of Canadian National.

It has been many years since a railroader lined this switch to move cars in and out of the industry seen in the background. It is the former Erie Railroad (Erie Lackawanna) line in Windman, Ohio, which has not been used in many years.

This switch was the location of a derailment on the EL on Thanksgiving Day 1973 when an eastbound UPS trailer train running on the westbound main was routed into this siding after juveniles had opened the switch and then locked the operating lever with the switch padlock. Three locomotives and 10 cars derailed. The engineer was killed and two other crew members were injured. The train had entered the westbound main at Kent. The train was traveling at 50 mph when the derailment occurred.

The lone Bloomer Highhood switches out Alliance Grain while a switcher is tied onto a couple grain cars.

A bank of elevator switches and relays sits decaying in a mechanical room high atop the abandoned Baker Hotel in Mineral Wells, Texas. The object creeping into the top-right corner of the image is the steel spiral staircase which leads up to the bell tower, the highest point in the old hotel.

Looks better large on black.
