Spring is finally springing here in Fairbanks and the spring migration is just starting. Right now we only have Trumpeter Swans and Lesser Canada Geese.
As this is taken in the same field as my dog mushing photos a couple of weeks ago, I'd say skijoring is done.

Today the weather is bad a usual. But during the past weekend it was just wonderful. We spent the weekend at Lake Steinhuder Meer near Hanover and it was perfect weather for taking photos.
When I was a tiny tot in the 80's, a breeding population of trumpeter swans (Cygnus buccinator) hadn't been recorded in Minnesota in over 100 years. Happily, today there are an estimated 2,400 breeding pairs, and trumpeter swans have once again become a year-round fixture in MN.
