Arley station on the Severn Valley Railway Worcestershire dating from 1862 when the line first opened linking Hartlebury with Shrewsbury. This line closed to passenger traffic in 1963 and coal trains in 1969 by BR and abandoned. Volunteers of the Severn Valley Heritage railway working their way northwards from Bewdley reopened the station in 1974. The station building survived demolition and was renovated back to its former glory but the platforms had to be rebuilt, Arley is now part of a thriving heritage railway of 16 miles (25km) from Kidderminster to Bridgenorth.
