You can look, but you can't touch

I don't think I like you much

Heaven knows what a girl can do

Heaven knows what you've got to prove

I think I'm paranoid

And complicated

I think I'm paranoid

Manipulate it

Bend me, break me

Anyway you need me

All I want is you

Bend me, break me

Breaking down is easy

All I want is you

I fall down just to give you a thrill

Prop me up with another pill

If I should fail, if I should fold

I nailed my faith to the sticking pole

I think I'm paranoid

Manipulate it

I think I'm paranoid

And complicated

Bend me, break me

Anyway you need me

All I want is you

Bend me, break me

Breaking down is easy

All I want is you

Paranoid

I think I'm paranoid

Bend me, break me

Anyway you need me

All I want is you

Bend me, break me

Breaking down is easy

All I want is you

Steal me, deal me, anyway you heal me

Maim me, tame me, you can never change me

Love me, like me, come ahead and fight me

Please me, tease me, go ahead and leave me

Bend me

Break me

Anyway you need me

As long as I want you baby it's all right

Bend me

Break me

Any way you need me

As long as I want you baby it's all right.

#DRUNE CONTEST RULES!

Drune: East Of Eden 10,000L Photo Contest

Contest dates: 12 am SLT, Nov 6 - 11:59 pm SLT -Nov 27, 2019

Categories:

10,000L - Grand Prize

5,000L - Best Scenery Photo

5,000L - Best Avatar(s) Photo

5,000L - Best Action Photo

5,000L - Best Erotic Photo

Rules:

1. You must be a member of the Drune Flickr group and submit your entry to that group with #Drune10kContest in the title or description

.

2. Photos must be taken and submitted during the the contest dates. Photos taken prior to or after those dates will not be accepted.

3. The content of the photos can be anything you like as long as it's clear the photo was taken at Drune: East of Eden. This rule is subjective and it's up to the judges' discretion to determine this. Photos taken at other versions of Drune will not be accepted.

4. Each person may submit up to two photos to the contest. You may submit as many photos you like to the group during and after the contest period, but only two for the contest. If more than two photos are submitted with #Drune10kContest in the title or description, only the first two photos submitted will be accepted unless requested otherwise.

5. The number of entries applies per person. This means that photos from alt Second Life accounts or Alt Flickr accounts will not be accepted. Contestants are expected to be honest and self-policing on this issue. If an alt is used, all photos will be disqualified.

6. Photos taken of the three judges (Hera, Sparklebottom Lasertits, and Riowyn) cannot be accepted into the contest, just to eliminate some bias. However, there are images of Sparklebottom in various places on the sim. Photos which include those images will be allowed as long as they are not the main focus of the photo.

Other info:

If you wish to rez any objects to assist with your photo, Drune Forever! is free-to-join group that allows rezzing (and is also the new, PERMANENT group for all future versions of Drune). There is a group joiner at the entrance. Please be courteous and delete rezzed objects once you have finished with them. Rezzed objects not in use will be periodically returned.

Photos do not need to be submitted to any category. It will be up to the judges to decide which category each photo fits best. As such, "Best Scenery Photo" doesn't mean it can't include avatars, and "Best Avatar(s) Photo" doesn't mean it can only include avatars.

A photo can only win one category, so if the photo includes both action and scenery, the judges will decide which category to consider it for. This also applies to the grand prize, which is what we determine to be the best of the bunch. Each prize is mutually exclusive to all of the other prizes.

Also, keep in mind that Drune: East of Eden is Adult rated (as have all previous versions of Drune) and has many erotic images and themes around the sim. Photos for the contest are welcome to be as erotic (or not) as you'd like.

That being said, please feel free to explore ALL Drune: East of Eden has to offer. There are three clubs (including Pino 2051), a hentai shop, a tattoo parlor, private apartments, an obedience training room, and several other hidden interiors. You are encouraged to explore and utilize the entirety of the sim for the contest. or even for your leisure.

Winners will be announced within a week of the contest ending.

The most important part is to have fun and do what you love! Those photos tend to come out best! If you have any questions about the contest, contact Sparklebottom Lasertits (Sparklybootie in Second Life).

Good luck! <3

This is my first Cinnamon Teal carving. There are lots of interesting colours and feather patterns going on with this duck species and several values of the cinnamon colour. I made those cinnamon colours with various ratios of Burnt Sienna, Raw Sienna, and Carbon Black.

I try to paint my carvings to show the species as it might be seen in good light. In the end, it is subjective.

One of my carving buddies took this shot today in my studio with my cell phone. The detail breaks down in the zoom mode and the carving and painting details do not appear as crisp as they actually are.

The Bassa Padovana is a

vast flat area of the Po Valley, located south of Padua and bordered to the north by the Euganean Hills and to the south by the Adige River. It is a rural area, characterized by wide fields, crops, Venetian villas, and residential areas, with a landscape interrupted only by rivers and canals. Almost all of the Nebbia Thicka (thick fog) is produced here, then exported throughout the plain and beyond. This fog freezes at low temperatures, forming Brosema and other byproducts.

Fog, as one might imagine, very often symbolizes a state of uncertainty and indeterminacy that can even turn into total confusion; especially in the case of some twilight poets, it expresses a reality that is neither clear nor reassuring, but rather gray, bordering on gloom. But fog can also have other meanings; for example, in one of Giovanni Pascoli's most famous poems, life appears as a valley submerged by a thick fog, which prevents us from seeing anything clearly around us, and therefore allows us only to intuit or subjectively interpret what is around us......

Playing with the Sun is one of my favourite aspects of outdoor photography, but also in so far as to play with the results of the light, that paradoxically is of course, the shadow(s), and it intrigues me greatly, how we as energetic entities when immersed from a point of light’s perspective, create a shadow greater than ourselves, in so much as following the vibrational aspect in our daily lives, how our darkest reputation precedes us as entities of light, that the darkest of colours attracts the most heat from light energy, you need dark solar panels to create light energy, a constant paradoxical, conflicting enigmatic and sustained duality, interceding our dimensional “reality” as questionable and subjective as is the perception itself thereafter. Oh trust me I could on…

I hope everyone is well and so as always, thank you! 😊

Zum Bild im Hintergrund (about the background image)

Commissar Demikovsky is the title Ukraine-born painter Jules Olitski gave to this almost completely monochrome picture. The color red dominates, and some complementary green breaks through on the margins. Judging by the title Olitski chose, the picture is dedicated to his father, who was executed as a Bolshevik during the Russian civil war a few months before the birth of his son in the year 1922. A short time later he and his mother emigrated to the United States. Olitski received his art education in New York and Paris. In the 1960s he began to use spray cans to apply paint. As in the painting Commissar Demikovsky, he creates surface structures in which the subjective signature is so reduced that the work can be seen in the context of minimal art. Olitski is one of the main representatives of color-field painting in context of “post-painterly abstraction,” a style of painting that was directed against the gestural approach of abstract expressionism. In 1966 Jules Olitski was one of the first living artists to be given a show at the New York Metropolitan Museum. Even if Olitski’s career, which began in the 1960s, soon began to stagnate, art critic Clement Greenberg still called him the “greatest living artist.”

The poverty of an objectivistic account is made only too clear when we consider the mystery of music. From a scientific point of view, it is nothing but vibrations in the air, impinging on the eardrums and stimulating neural currents in the brain.

How does it come about that this banal sequence of temporal activity has the power to speak to our hearts of an eternal beauty? The whole range of subjective experience, from perceiving a patch of pink, to being enthralled by a performance of the Mass in B Minor, and on to the mystic’s encounter with the ineffable reality of the One, all these truly human experiences are at the center of our encounter with reality, and they are not to be dismissed as epiphenomenal froth on the surface of a universe whose true nature is impersonal and lifeless.

I am moving this shot to the top of my photostream and choosing it for the Your Best Shot of 2022 group. "Best" is a very subjective term.

Entails subjectivity

Finally recovering from the Nightscaper Conference last week. As always Royce Bair put together an awesome event. I was privileged enough to assist many of the speakers during the conference and host a round table. The round table was a discussion about photography Ethics. Photography ethics are the principles that guide how we take and share photographs. Photography ethics are subjective, contextual, and fluid, meaning every person's ethics will be different, because ethics are based on a person's life experiences and values. Although everyone will answer ethical questions in their own way and according to observed circumstances, there are some key ethical questions that are useful to consider. This is the incredible panel that I had for the round table.

Wayne Pinkston – Cofounder of LowLevelLighting.org

Mike Shaw – Award winning astrophotographer and author

Brad Goldpaint - 2018 Astronomy Photographer of the year

Bryony Richards – International Award-winning photographer

Jack Fusco - an early nighscape innovator who loves to keep it simple and as real as possible.

Again I can only say that it was such a privilege to host these incredible photographers. each of them were so professional and shared their passion for photography. They had some tough questions to answer and did so with the upmost respect for their passion. One of the questions asked is below. Unanimously the panel felt it important to not share the location. It is not so much to keep a secret as it is to protect the area. We all love to share our images but everyone agreed that photographers need to understand our responsibility to leave no trace.

The term “social media influencer” has become a goal of many. It is not hard to find one. It is the account with thousands of followers that has a pretty photo posted from a stunning location. Some of these influencers have sponsors. They create post content that people like. Do some social media influencers cross the line?

Question:

Does social media help or hurt? Does it bring too much attention to a particular place?

I shot this image the night after the conference. I hope you enjoy it.

My thoughts about soft focus and out of focus...

There’s soft focus and out of focus… The differences between the two are apparent… Soft focus can live within any shot… especially if you’re shooting moving objects… i.e. animals, people, cars etc. The key question is: does the soft focus enhance or detract?

Since shots are all subjective to the shooter… it should be a process of “Should I show this shot?”… soft focus images should have levels of clarity within the shot, if not, then it’s just out of focus… yes the wings and most of the gull shows movement… but the head, beak and eye are for the most part clearly defined… as well as the underlying canvass which is the water…

It’s always a struggle to post these shots… but if you know my work… all shots are just not about sharpness… shots that you post should be about “YOU” your vision, your heart…

I've read all sorts of opinions about this luminous art installation and, I guess, like most art, this project dwells in the realm of subjectivity. It's a lot more colorful under the freeway, though. To be sure.

Thanks for having a look!

THE FARIGOULE COLLECTION by Jules Farigoule - the January 2023 installation @ The Annex of Nitroglobus

A whlile ago when meeting with Jules in his loft, which is really a superb tastefully made place, I asked him if he was willing to exhibit his awesome art collection at Nitroglobus.

At first he hesitated and told me he was neither an artist nor was this a 'collection', just images which he likes to have around him; a very subjective and personal selection. However, in the end he said YES. I am soo happy he did.

Now installed at The Annex of Nitroglobus you see the result: The FARIGOULE COLLECTION: a set of images, gathered from meetings, friendships and by chance, from the serendipity of Jules's long second life.

Jules explains in the notes which are hung on the walls of the gallery along side the art works shown, why or how these works touch him,, what he sees in them, the personality of their creator, or the situation that led him to acquire them.

Moreover, Jules constructed parts of his loft here in the gallery to give the visitors of the exhibition a more intense look and feel of his home and collection.

There is not really a concept in this exhibition, just walk around, enjoy and build your own story.

Dido Haas

My thanks go of course to Jules Farigoule and to Joss Floss who was a great help.

Wavelengths of light exist outside our brains, but colors are subjective mental phenomena that depend on our visual systems.

The easiest way to realize this is to consider how televisions and other displays create the subjective experience of color. They use red, green and blue light (meaning light with the corresponding wavelengths). With these 3 wavelengths, a television can be used to create any color imaginable.

Consider how red light and green light can be combined to create yellow light. This has nothing to do with physics. The two types of light wave do not in any sense "mix", except at the retina.

The retina is not the whole story, however. The neuroscience of color vision is complex, and only partially understood. The famous image of the blue-and-black / white-and-gold dress illustrates this. Some people can voluntarily switch between the two percepts. This implies that the retina is not the only part of the visual system that is involved in color vision. Voluntary control is generally assumed to act at higher levels of the visual hierarchy.

Looking across the River Wyre estuary where it meets Morecambe Bay to Fleetwood from Knott End.

Lots of processing to make the image 'gloomy' as the day was quite sunny! If you think it looks too dark then please say (photography is very subjective of course) as I'm quite open to CONSTRUCTIVE criticism. Thanks for looking.

The image captures a realistic scene, but its intense blue-gray tones and hazy effect deviate from its objective documentary nature, creating a surreal or poetic atmosphere.

The solitary figure and desolate scene in the photograph create a strong subjective mood, leaving the viewer with a sense of mystery, loneliness, or provocation, echoing the emphasis on personalization and irrationality in "anti-photos."

This atmosphere is achieved through the use of color, light, and composition, elevating the photograph beyond simple documentary function to become a work of art with powerful emotional and conceptual expression.
