Wherever you are, you will always be in my heart.

I was also thinking about naming this one "my soul to keep." Because in life there are moments, places, and people that are so special that you freely give a little piece of your self and in return, your heart is never empty.
I am so grateful for moments like this. The photo is technically far from perfect but for me its perfection lays in the feeling it gives me. I see a little piece of my soul in there. And that is one of the reasons why I fell in love with photography.
Every year after Carnival, the Barcelona-Sitges Rally of vintage cars is organized. The car caravan runs along the old Costa de Garraf road, with infinite curves along 23 kms. Once in Sitges, the cars are parked on Passeig de la Ribera to be admired and photographed.
Cross processing began to be used in the 90's, mainly in fashion and advertising photography. In other types of photographs such as landscapes, the results were very bad and unreal. They were high contrast images, with saturated but highly distorted colors. Low lights became dominant blue, dark areas were very flat, blues very dark and muted. Sometimes reds turned magenta and highlights tended to yellow or sometimes slightly pink or creamy.
That's the theory of course and it can also be achieved in Photoshop with external plugins or by loading ACV files in a curves adjustment layer. But it's all very subjective because actually, cross development gives a different result depending on the photographic film you use. An Agfa CT Precisa 100 is a high-contrast reel and creates highly saturated colors, while a Fuji Sensia 100 creates softer, lower-contrast tones. But even within the same brand, each reel has its particular characteristics and therefore different cross processes. On a Fuji Velvia 100F ASA, fuchsia and deep magentas dominate and a Fuji Velvia 50 ASA produces bluish images with high contrast, while a Fuji Provia 100F has a tendency to be greenish and yellowish-blue. Each photo reel reacts differently to the cross processing and also depending on other factors such as the degree of preservation of the film, expiry date, the use of other products such as b / w whiteners, etc.
In cross processing, standard ISO films (from 50 to 100 ASA) were generally used, but for this photo I added some variants to experiment: I used an Ektachrome P800 / 1600 Professional EES slide reel (which due to its high sensitivity It was used by sports press photographers), I forced the exposure to 3200 and sub revealed to 1600. Instead of chemicals process for E-6 I used those for C-41. And I used a half-year expired slide film that had been left out of the fridge under normal ambient conditions. Processed on paper Fuji Professional Lux Chrome Metallic.
This car is an Hispano Suiza H6B Cabrio Model. The body was pearl gray metallic, but through the cross process it was greenish. The upper part was darker and more intense green because of the dominant blue of the sky and the dark brown fender was turned into red. No digital media has been used in this photograph. Just scanning: Epson Perfection V-700 Photo.

For me and my very subjective taste the most interesting place on the planet is Moab in Utah, with two absolutely incredible national parks near it: Arches and Canyonlands. I'd been there 3 times and seen probably 5% of the natural wonders in the area... This place is my own paradise, I long to see it again, but it may be lost for me for ever (thanks to Covid and inflation and and and...) If I manage to go back I'll stay there for at least 3 weeks or more.

artists often use the photographic medium to produce works of art. The trouble occurs when photographers deliberately set out to produce fine art. Usually they do not succeed. Yet the photographers who simply record honestly and sincerely the subjects that they feel are significant, often produce pictures which are important, timeless images – almost incidentally :-)

Coronavirus is an objective problem, but it can be defeated. We have to follow virtuous behavior and avoid acting in a subjective way. We must temporarily give up a life of society, but the stakes are high. Perhaps, the virus will serve, if ever, to rebuild a collective and supportive fabric that we are slowly losing. Let's team up, without speculation, without geographical or political borders. Unity will make strength!
Photography is at least 50% subjective in my opinion., so that's for others to decide!

Macro Mondays - Balance
In photography, the Rule of Odds states to frame the subject with 2 surrounding objects, creating then, an odd number of 3. In this way the picture is supposed to suggest balance and visual harmony. As for all kinds of art, is a very subjective rule. But in most of cases its truly createing a good balance.
Unfortunately for this monday theme I didn't have enough free time, so I took this fast shot of kiwis, just to represent the above statement.

"America is home to some strange and, sometimes, downright ludicrous traditions and practices. Having a flamingo (or 50) in your front yard is one such tradition, and enquiring minds would like to know what that is all about.
Truth be told, the meaning of this practice is somewhat subjective as it depends on what the owner would like it to represent. When plastic yard flamingos emerged in the 1950s, it was the climax of America’s post-WWII obsession with the graceful birds. Then, plastic flamingos were kitsch items, cheap décor that added a dash of fun to the garden.
Flamingos also represent Florida, a popular retiree destination. Individuals living the American dream (at least in the mid to late 20th century) intended to spend their golden years on the state’s sun-soaked beaches, surrounded by flocks of pink flamingos. These dreams of ultimate relaxation spread throughout the country, and plastic flamingos were identified as the easiest way to turn homes into “beach houses”.
Of course, no great success story is without detractors. The 1960s saw the first signs of anti-flamingo rhetoric, like “cultured” homeowners and social critics, lambasted lovers of cheap plastic garden ornaments. Cultural publications and other media tried, by all means, to discourage the public from the favored gnomes, idols, and birds.
The sentiment gained so much momentum that even Sears dropped the pink plastic flamingo from their catalog.
Pop culture has also played a significant role in the history of the lawn flamingo. One of the earliest depictions of the ornament was in John Water’s popular 1972 film Pink Flamingo’s although the movie was not about flamingos.
However, the film did help America fall in love with the ornament again, as they were celebrated ironically as a lowbrow icon.
The movie’s success spawned a radical readoption of the pink lawn flamingo as America’s unofficial bird. The ironic wave was in full swing, with flamingo (now a recognized design theme) at the heart of the momentum. Flamingos returned to every decorative item you can think of in the mid-70s and through to the 80s…vases, tablecloths, etc."
Thank you for taking the time to visit and comment my images, I am here to enjoy your beautiful works and always appreciate your valuable constructive criticism because it is a healthy means to grow. Photography is self-expression rather than to record the appearance of the external world, it is subjective art rather than exact science, so please honored me with your personal view and style.
Cropping can 'make or break' a photograph
I'd agree with that statement and the cropping process is the most subjective part of the editing process
Like most of you deciding how to present your shot (close., more distant etc.,) sometimes doesnt have a clear answer
I suppose a better question to ask is 'what do you want the shot to do?'
Look beautiful?
Have an impact?
But even then....
This shot of a Buzzard was one of those., So I've taken the easy way out...
Uploaded both crops!

Juvenile Black-crowned Night-Heron (Nycticorax nycticorax) taken at Dinner Island Ranch, Hendry County, Florida, USA. Identification of the juvenile Black-crowned and juvenile Yellow-crowned Night-Herons can be confused. The Black-crowned Night-heron can be identified by its smaller red eye, finer and more pointed bill, and shorter neck. A less subjective feature of the Black-crowned juvenile is the greenish coloring at the base of the bill that is clearly seen in this image.
Suprematism is an early twentieth-century art movement focused on the fundamentals of geometry (circles, squares, rectangles, triangles). The term refers to a form of abstract art based on the supremacy of pure artistic expression rather than on a visual or literal depiction of objects. It is entirely subjective and gives room for the artist to present what they think or perceive versus what they may see.
A few days ago, I posted this family portrait much more highly cropped. I kept looking at the original capture and decided to crop less. The decision as to how much to crop an image is always my biggest dilemma. By now, I think that most times I get it right but not always. This is one of those times. Of course, the issue is very subjective. Linda, for instance, likes the more cropped version much more. What can I say?

BROKEN – RAY DAVIES
NOT BROKEN
A little flower was very curious
she felt that she was being fenced in
by a grey alternate world
where confusion reigned
and tore at her sweet heart
and time and time again
she let forgiveness lead her
through the fence in curiosity
and she was foolish
to let that world
cause her so much pain
and aim at her so much animosity
in her own little world the sun still shone
and all the other flowers
gathered around her;
made daisy chains
placed them in her plaited hair
and sang sweet soothing words
a lullaby of love and care
sunlight filtered through the grass
and lit up dew like precious jewels
her wounds ran deep
and left her tattered dress
still white but torn
but no-one saw this mess
all they saw when they looked at her
was the same little flower
they knew and loved
complex and often misunderstood
but as much a part of nature
as soft and gentle Summer showers
fragile as this flower is
inside her heart is warm and strong
and goodness shines from inside out
and radiates her whole life long
those cruel words written;
those harsh jibes spoken;
never will they harm her
she will and is protected always
by angels; and she's not broken.
Just a silly story about a little flower … ; 0)

Isn't the word, "Power!" so ultimately subjective?! This shot is from literally one of dozens of photos I took of the main Vattenfall Power Station in Berlin, which was an almost two hour walk from my cave, so please show this some love as today, I ache everywhere, I even popped the map down under. I walked around this place for hours on both sides of the river, and I cannot begin to tell you how massive this place is, photos just don't do it justice.
It really was quite something, when I luckily found a park bench right opposite one of the bigger buildings, I sat and marvelled at the example of human industrial engineering and science that this place beholds; l could only surmise as to the technology that buzzes and hums away in these buildings; my partner has commented to me in the past as to how stupid human beings can be and yet look what we are capable of when we put our minds to it.
I will posting a good few more of this power castle over time.
I hope everyone is well and so as always, thank you! :)

'Beauty in the eye of the beholder' has a literal meaning - that the perception of beauty is subjective - what one person finds beautiful another may not. What's the origin of the phrase 'Beauty is in the eye of the beholder'? This saying first appeared in the 3rd century BC in Greek.
SS Sicamous is a large four decked sternwheeler commissioned by the Canadian Pacific Railway (CPR) and built by the Western Dry Dock and Shipbuilding Company for Okanagan Lake service between the fruit communities of Penticton, and other towns of Kelowna and Vernon, British Columbia. SS Sicamous launched in 1914, Sicamous ran for many years connecting rail lines and areas. The vessel operated until 1937 and is currently beached as a part of a heritage shipyard operated by the S.S. Sicamous Restoration Society in Penticton. The vessel today is operated both as a museum and events and banquet facility.
Form
Built in 1914, Sicamous made daily trips around Okanagan Lake until 1936, with her last official voyage in 1937. Throughout her twenty-two years of official service, Sicamous remained an important link within the transportation system of the Okanagan. Sicamous now resides in Penticton where she continues to undergo restoration. Sicamous had the following dimensions:
Length: 200.5 ft (registered); 228 ft (overall)
Breadth: 40 ft
Height (main deck to pilot house): 53 ft
Gross Tonnage: 1786.65 tons
Net Tonnage: 994.38 tons[

It's said if you drive a car fast enough you'll become invisible to a speed camera
Conversely if a cameras shutter speed is slowed down far enough (in this case 1/25) the beating wing's of a bird will also become virtually invisible
Unlike the speed camera theory (which is a myth by-the-way... don't try it!) this shot proves the latter theory to be correct!
Panning the bird to keep it's body reasonably sharp., the faster moving wings become translucent (i.e. see-through)
It's a photographic 'effect' of course., where a shot doesn't' actually show what was there (...the camera never lies?? there's another myth!!)
Is it pleasing to the 'eye'?., well that's subjective of course
But at the very least (for me at least) it's photographically interesting
As it is so often the case, beautiful motifs are difficult to achieve. I found this beautiful Apollo butterfly above Lake Lungern (Canton Obwalden) on an extremely steep slope. That I could photograph it so close was probably due to a cloud that covered the sun. I had observed before that these butterflies fly less without sunshine and like to sit down. But maybe this is only my subjective impression...
(Parnassius apollo)
Last upload of this session features a CAF EMU 331102 departing Leeds with Northern's 3.21pm service to Doncaster (2B21), taken last year.
Good use is made of the scissor-crossover hidden behind me to boost station capacity - the train had actually departed from the platform l'm stood upon. I took a shot of a pair of trains stood at each of the platforms in view using a similar composition, but ultimately thought this one of the departing train snaking over the curves made for the better image. It's all subjective of course.
Leeds might lack the character of a Victorian station, but there's plenty to have a go at here with the camera, and it's compact busy-ness does have a certain appeal.
Comments off, thanks.

It’s a strange and wondrous world a photographer lives in, searching for truth that is objective and subjective at once…a combination to show what really happened and our own insight. When it comes to capturing a facial expression, you have to gain an intuition about the way a subtle change or a shift in shadow changes our perception of what stage the idea in a mind or a felt emotion was in terms of coming to fruition. We are all complex people but Yoshimi of The Boredoms and OOIOO is perhaps one of the more complicated artists and humans out there. And sometimes, this makes it impossible to choose one photograph instead of two the same way a mind might experience two thoughts at once veering towards the same awareness point. Time passes and that same moment might disappear into a distant vanishing point…this is why we have cameras after all…in order to study the nuances of what makes us humans.
Incidentally, this same kind of conundrum and artistic experience occurred a few other times but most notably when I took a couple of portraits of the Canadian singer, Julie Doiron. I couldn’t decide what I liked best and so I included both:
www.flickr.com/photos/kirstiecat/3596469364/in/photolist-...
I also think that we’re all living many lives and sometimes catch glimpses of each other….are we the same human if we’re the sum of all of our experiences and those experiences diverge at a certain point? Maybe not…..but perhaps….perhaps….we can catch a glimpse of ourselves and show some recognition and maybe even a smile.

This is the alternative colour version of Macro Mondays Fork theme ... I chose not to use it as I thought the coloured background overpowered the central shot ... somewhat subjective, maybe?

it means different things to different viewers and is totally subjective. To one viewer it may be crap, to another it may be superb. Just like music, sculpture, painting, the written word or film, it stirs up a different feeling and thought within anyone who looks at a picture. Its not finite like a mathematical formula but totally infinite in its communication :-)

Actually, I don't place much importance to New Year's Eve and my life is divided into other sections, but nevertheless I created a collage with retrospect.
The selection(choice) is very subjective and the photos are often standing for important events in my life.

Thank you very much for your kind comments and your friendship.
I wish you all the best in the new year, always the best light and above all, stay healthy and lively(safe and sound) !
I am on Flickr since December 2011 and my photos improved a bit but my English isn't much better :-) I apologize
