This image is a photoshop manipulation of Rantz's photo Storm Rolling In II

I have endeavoured to transform the image from one taken in the afternoon to one taken on dusk using various layers and effects.

The original image has been cropped from above to remove the sun which did not lend itself to the look I was after.

The part about the original image that inspired me to have a play was that I really liked the rock formations and the reflections.

It seems somewhat ironic that this front came through a few minutes ago.. I believe a storm is in my own horizon.

In my last photo you can see the storm cells heading more south as the wind shifted, and this is a view over the City Centre Airport. At this point, a watch is in effect.

Good job I cut short my walk yesterday, as soon after I got back home, water fell from the sky.

Hail storm afternoon of 08.10.10

This was a black violet sky, of roiling clouds and lightning. It was menacing and thrilling and beautiful. I was walking home from the store as it was building and hoping I'd get home to the camera in time to catch it in it's glory.

Danny and I were returning from Rad Rides by Troy when we encountered a severe thunder storm along I-57 between West Frankfort and Marion, Illinois. 90 mph winds were reported. the right Southbound lane of the Interstate was closed for about ten miles by fallen trees. We were stuck in place for an hour and a half. We saw cars hit by trees, semi-trucks overturned, camper trailers blown apart, and even a large boat sans trailer in the median. A real mess. At the height of the storm we pulled over to the right side and we are lucky we were not hit by the falling trees and wind borne debris.

This is from my June 12th solo naked storm chase north and east of Kearney. This is not even the main storm, but another updraft behind the main storm that was presumably kicked up by the main storm's outflow. (This is looking west, while them main storm was north of me and moving east).

A high base thunderstorm with a nice rainfoot.

This is another version of the storm HDR... I like this one better it looks more ominous.

Took this in the early morning hours this morning so there's not much to see, but plenty to hear as winds gust to 100 km/hr in our area!

Storm over Grantham

We're having an intense storm cell move through Chino Hills and my desire and need to photograph everything got the best of me. Watched the lightning for a few min and once I was positive it wasn't a little storm I decided to grab my Gorillapod and Camera. Shot this from out of a 2nd story window. I set up the tripod and attached my camera but I wasn't sure on the camera settings since full manual mode was still set for Fireworks shots. I guesstimated and fired the shutter and 2 seconds later this happened. Needless to say it was a bit overexposed but this was the only strike that was close enough to come out on camera. At least I was able to somewhat save it in editing! :)
