Towards sunset the storm cleared but the wind was still amazing and these clouds were zooming past.

It was really hot and humid and about mid afternoon this storm started to creep up, beginning with an extremely loud crack of thunder. I was hanging the Pepsi clock when I was startled by the sudden thunder.

Out the window of my "Studio". It's been a wacky weather night.

As I waited for my 1 hour photo printing today I thought I would put my waiting time to good use and go for a walk in the park. The clouds turned just as I arrived. The lightning and thunder started up too. I managed to get out of the car long enough to take a few photos and then retreated back to the safety of the car and ate my picnic there instead!

Denk aan kust, en er duiken spontaan beelden in je hoofd van strand, duinen, zee, storm, schepen, vissers of vuurtorens. Twee fotografen brengen twee van die kusticonen in beeld: de zeevisserij en vuurtorens. Ze doen dit elk vanuit een heel eigen invalshoek, maar met eenzelfde voeling voor hun Stad aan Zee.Zeevisserij

Pedro Rappé hoort tot de vijfde generatie van redersfamilie en vissersgeslacht uit Knokke-Heist en vaart al 35 jaar op zee. De voorbije vier jaar combineerde hij zijn hoofdberoep als visser met zijn liefde voor fotografie. Dit leverde uitzonderlijke beelden op van de harde, veelal onbekende, maar o zo mooie wereld van de Vlaamse zeevisserij. De foto’s zijn puur en onvervalst, vaak genomen tijdens een helse stormbui of wilde windopflakkeringen. De fotograaf die we ook kennen van onze krant en Facebook Knokke-Heist denkt zelf outside the box en dat zie je en voel je in zijn foto’s.

VuurtorensPatrick Pottier studeerde aan de Nederlandse Fotovakschool. Daarna werkte hij als freelancefotograaf voor De Zeewacht en maakte hij fotoreportages onder de naam Foto Patrick. Sinds 1985 maakt hij enkel nog artistiek werk, waarmee hij zowel nationale als internationale prijzen won. Deze veelzijdige natuurfotograaf is een Oostendenaar pur sang. Het maritieme is dan ook nooit ver weg in zijn werk.
