I ventured down to Barton on Sea yesterday as there are quite a few pathways further up from the rocks where you can shoot from in relative safety.
I went for some grey moody photos but the sky had other ideas and a beautiful sunset unfolded.
However it was challenging, the horizontal winds were relentless and I was faced with the usual challenges. I had my tripod down low and was wiping my lens constantly, it wasn't actually raining but there was seaspray flying everywhere. There was a beautiful dramatic afterglow but unfortunately most of the shots by that point were either cloudy or just not sharp enough. I will revisit them in a few days, but I think most of them will have to go!.

violent storms on the Great Plains are notorious for the damage they can do...and for that reason much of the critical infrastructure such as power and cable lines are buried underground...additionally more storm-proof metal poles are being used such as the one on the far left above which leads to a water treatment plant that serves thousands of homes.
The Scottish Savanna, the lone tree on a stormy day. This image was captured above the dunes of Loch Fleet, RSPB nature reserve.
But where is our place in this immense harmony of creation?Nature is bigger than us.

A flashback with a return to a very special February day in 2007 in Collioure, south of France. In spite of 300 days with sun in the year - this was a day where heavy waves from a passing storm was coming in right to the beaches in the village of Collioure.
And of course where there is this kind of waves there is also surfers. See if you can spot the surfer in the middle of this photo taken 10 years ago.
An image from New Mexico, where after getting slammed by super high winds and a generous helping of small pea to marble sized hail by the shipload the storm finally passed... and I had to stop for this.
After the storm that moved in from the West coast , I was on my way home from the vet with Tootie..This lone pine tree caught my eye with all the rays of light after the storm had moved through.I feel so lucky to live on the backroads of nature..Something is always happening with it..When I stopped to get the photo, you could hear the crickets making their merry song..
"The fishermen know that the sea is dangerous and the storm terrible, but they have never found these dangers sufficient reason for remaining ashore."
~Vincent Van Gogh
And again it's nearly weekend. Enjoy it my friends.

Went for a quick walk up frodsham hill tonight with Jo, it started to rain as we got out of the car :(
This was the view from the top ! managed to set my tripod up and get about three shots off before the rain and lightning got us :(
The band of light to the right bugs me a little , but that's how it looked as the storm moved across from the left .

A huge thunder storm passes Meltham, sparking every couple of seconds. It seemed more like a tropical storm, amazing spectacle.
