A storm had just blown over and the ocean was still a little restless. Otherwise, shaping up to be a nice day at Moss Beach, just north of Half Moon Bay, California.

Okay and now welcome to :

Dark clouds over small village in Poland.

a man, standing against the whispers of an oncoming storm, balances on the edge of the sea. the fishing rod in his hand is steady, but the air feels heavy, charged. the waves glimmer under a dull sky, their rhythm a warning, their pull a promise. in portixol, before the winds came, there was this fleeting quiet. the kind that settles deep in the bones, like a story waiting to be told.

Today was un-godly hot!!! Heat index of 110 degrees F. This evening a major storm passed through the city with 70 mph winds! The whole storm lasted less than 30 minutes and as it passed the sun came back out for only a few moments! We breathed a sigh of relief...the storm had passed.

A combination of a low pressure ridge, causing high winds and large onshore swells, and the highest tide of the month, made for a coastal battering at Porthleven on Thursday evening.

The Cornwall tourist board advert said "visit Cornwall for the Spring Bank Holiday week and celebrate the Jubilee on the beach"....fat chance of that!

It's nice to be in the sun watching the rain on the other side and over the Cromarty Bridge and Firth. I just love it when all the elements align. Sun and rain, what a treat.

Some more shots taken whilst Storm Herminia was passing through at Porthcawl. These were taken from the harbour side of the breakwater and I think they are more dramatic than the usual shots of Porthcawl.

Just as I finished uploading the 10 previous lightning shots from Kerrville I see a flash of lightning and hear thunder. More lightning tonight from an unexptected storm! These are my best four shots.

Church Rock, Broad Haven South, Pembrokeshire. Taken during a short break in stormy clouds and rain when the clear sky and sunlight gave a natural backlight.

It was overcast and the forecast called for a chance of showers. I didn't think I would be able to get in a photowalk, so I went to the Y for some exercise. When I got out a large, unforecast storm was approaching. I photographed the action from a school across from the park, so I would quickly be able to get in the car and escape when the rain started. Ultimately this storm dropped 3 inches of rain in just a couple of hours, causing some local flooding.

Sossusvlei, Namibia.

Sossusvlei, is famous for its red dunes and dead trees. This evening we were welcomed by strong winds and dust storm in the valley.

A long exposure shot, taken shortly after sunset, of a distant storm somewhere to the east of Saint Michel L' Observatoire.

Trying to capture some dramatic lighting in the late afternoon as a passing shower gave way to strong yellow sunlight, and strong winds thanks to Storm Éowyn. Happy Fence Friday.
