Twenty-five students from the Milton Hershey School spent the day at Penn State Health, who teamed up with the American Heart Association and Centric Bank to host the first regional STEM Goes Red event, the aim of which was to empower young women to improve heart and brain health through pursuing careers in science, technology, engineering and math.

St. Agnes Academy and Strake Jesuit College Preparatory students teach girls about how to discover and get excited about their potential in STEM.

 

(Houston, Texas) - - Spectrum #3847, St. Agnes Academy and Strake Jesuit College Preparatory students, shows Girl’s Inc-Houston Camp SMART! how to discover and get excited about their potential in science, technology, engineering and math. The girls, ages 12-15, were engaged in building their first VEX IQ robot with the help of their Spectrum #3847 coaches. They learned how to build a robot, operate it and see first hand how much fun STEM can be. Allen Gregory, Spectrum #3847 coach, taught engineering principles and an overview of STEM fields.

 

Spectrum #3847 is made up of high school students from St. Agnes Academy and Strake Jesuit College Preparatory two Catholic college preparatory schools in southwest Houston, Texas. St. Agnes is all-girls, and Strake Jesuit is all-boys. www.spectrum3847.org
