Visitors to the Goodman South Madison Library on April 5, 2014, were able to spend their mornings having fun exercising their minds at the Navigant STEM Fair. Kids and their families had the opportunity to investigate Science, Technology, Engineering and Math, thanks to volunteers from Navigant, who organized and ran the fair in partnership with the library. Activities included exploring MG&E’s Pedal Power Generator, a Lego Robotics demonstration, the “Science of Goo”, dissecting an owl pellet, creating a battery using food, an an electricity demonstration. I really liked the lines and details in these Day Lily buds and stems that had not yet bloomed. The colors were very nice but I liked how the lack of color really emphasized the lines and shapes of the flowers.
Two STEM Expos were held in October 2015 for the K-12 students of Galena Park and Pasadena, Texas, through partnership with Communities In Schools. The events were supported by funding from an American Chemical Society grant.

From July 29 - Aug 2, ASAS Chicago hosted STEM CampUs at Illinois Institute of Technology. Sponsored by Teza Technologies, STEM CampUs focused on high school, college and career readiness, with a specific focus on entrepreneurship and the STEM fields.
Native, warm-season, perennial, small herb. Stems are few and usually 10-20 cm tall. Leaves are oppositely arranged, oblong to ovate, hairy and 10-20 mm long. Flowerheads are short, dense spikes. Flowers (6-8 mm long) have a small upper lip and a larger lower lip of 3 fused petals; the lower lip is prominent and pink, with a white base. Flowering is from spring to autumn. Found along watercourses and roadsides, in rocky places and short grasslands, as well as the understorey of open woodlands.
Native biodiversity. Of no importance to stock grazing as it is a relatively fibrous plant that produces little bulk and is sparingly grazed by cattle.
