Die letzten Tage und Wochen waren in meiner Region überwiegend verregnet. Heute war der Himmel stark bewölkt und ab und an kam mal die Sonne durch. Der Star genießt es und nimmt ein kleines Sonnenbad. :-)
The last few days and weeks in my region have mostly been rainy. The sky was cloudy today and the sun came through from time to time. The star enjoys it and takes a little sunbath. :-)

This brittle star, (Ophiopholis aculeata,) was collected on July 26th, 2016, from the ARMS 2 unit deployed off the coast of San Juan Island at a depth of 20 meters. The specimen was triple-documented at the Friday Harbor Laboratories as part of an ongoing ARMS biodiversity survey.

Texas Star. These are one day wonders, dropping their flower when the sun goes down. A decorative flower and rather invasive but incredibly striking. Thanks for the Look and have a safe weekend.

So, it turns out animal families are not all that different from human families... Daddy is chilling on the beach uninterrupted while mommy is chasing the kids in the water! :)
Enjoy your week!
While I was in Central Australia recently, I thought I would have a go at star trails. It is not often that you have wonderful views of the stars, you can leave you camera unattended for long periods and not have to worry about dew getting on the lens or someone taking your camera. I took the easy approach and took a single long exposure rather than multiple exposures.
My first attempt was a complete failure. I had high ISO noise reduction switched on and I thought my camera was malfunctioning when the camera kept processing for minutes and minutes. This is one of the next attempts. It was for only about 10 1/2 minutes so the trails are very short.
The trees are desert oaks, Allocasuarina decaisneana
