The Twelve Apostles is a collection of limestone stacks off the shore of the Port Campbell National Park, by the Great Ocean Road in Victoria, Australia.

The apostles were formed by erosion: the harsh weather conditions from the Southern Ocean gradually eroded the soft limestone to form caves in the cliffs, which then became arches, which in turn collapsed; leaving rock stacks up to 45 metres high

Another from the 'Great Ocean Road'....

Thanks for taking the time to comment, I really appreciate it :-)

I will always try to reciprocate with a visit back to your stream.

A common find and yet always appealing to take a picture. First day of the mushroom photographer meeting in the bavarian forest.

Die herben Zwergknäuelinge sind dankbare Motive und man findet sie immer wieder. Waren ideale Motive zum "Einschiessen" am ersten Tag des Pilzlertreffens im bayerischen Wald.

I bought this lilac stem the other day, and its pleasant scent freshens the air in my kitchen. It's seen here in an 80-frame focus stack, blended with Helicon Focus.

Stacked images with a 15s interval.

Stacked layers of sarongs - souvenirs from a wonderful holiday in Bali, a few moons ago. They are so bright and pretty that I could never get rid of them.

Taken for todays (27-Jan-2018) Smile on Saturday 'stacked' theme.

Happy weekend everyone :-))

I visited Lista and Lista lighthouse to capture Orion and the Milky way because the sky out here is very dark and crisp.

This view is what met us when we where there. A sky on green fire. This night the sky was full of green and red Airglow. Just magical. Excited oxygen atoms release energy in form of green light. This light is extremely faint and can only be captured from the darkes skies. In this image you can see the Milky way, Orion and intense Airglow.

Picture is made from 2 images panorama i landscape orientation. 5 exposures each panel for stacking and reduction in noise.

I found the green 502 today and realized I had a new stack of rainbow fridgies going! I still need to find that pink 501.

Just to keep things interesting, here is a photo of stacked lumber. This was like the tip of an iceberg as there were rows upon rows upon rows of these stacks, all the same height and as tall as trees! I've never seen lumber stacked like this and thought it was a great way to dry it out. The boards looked like 4x4 or maybe 6x6 boards. Hard to tell as my chauffer was not keen on slowing down much for photo ops! LOL

UPDATE: I did more research and found out these are stacked railroad ties! Interesting stuff. The Stella-Jones' treating facility in Goshen, VA of German-stacked, untreated ties

We visited this icon of the North-west Highlands on a blustery day, where dodging rain-drops was a challenge. Luckily we got a decent break in the clouds which let the sun light up Cnoc Corr.

Some of the most dramatic coastlines in Wales that you would ever come across is near the southern Pembrokeshire National Park from Castlemartin Range East to all the way to Govan's Head. Castlemartin Range East is the only one that is open to public subject to some Ordnance tests that happen from time to time. It is also the only route to get to the Green Bridge of Wales - A natural sea arch that is simply spectacular.

As you walk east from the Green Bridge, you would come across these two sea stacks. You can also see the Devil's Cauldron in the distance. There are a lot of other less prominent stacks till you reach Govan's head which is spectacular on its own. This has a 6 stop ND filter and a graduated ND filter. I also had used the UV filter to limit some of the haze but as the sun was setting in the other side, I could not get rid of em all...

Thanks for viewing and have a nice day!

This 96x5s interval stacked image was lightened in Photoshop. Intense fire sky displays can yield the most interesting stacked images. In this equivalent 8 minutes elapsed time, the start through the end of the fire sky is depicted.

Picture of the Day

At a beach i went to, there were a few of these stacked rock sculptures around. I made a small one before I left :)

This is from the rock stacking festival. So, they were doing more than stacking rock. ..lol..Who knew I would find a bench at the rock stacking festival..;) I know you're laughing..;) Anyway, I had a great time. Got a little sunburned. I put some lotion on but I may have waited too long to put it on.

Thois picture was taken at the Slieve League cliffs. Actually I was standing high on top of the cliffs, but with the telezoom, I got some nice details of the area, including this sea-stacks.

The picture was taken from appr. 530-560m height.

could be Pluteus chrysophlebius or Mycena leaiana because the margin of the cap can become lined. Maybe Hygrocybe cantharellus, but I didn't check to see if the gills are decurrent. Cute as anything though. A 22-image stack.

Stacked.

Crazy Tuesday.

Cairn.

Sea Stack Jan Mayen.

The stone stacks were gone a couple of days after I'd taken these shots. probably a good thing. In Tenerife there's an entire beach covered with these "creations" that, in my opinion, looks a right mess !

Happy New Year 2024 to everyone!
