Thank you all for visits, favs and comments, it's greatly appreciated!

St Tropez is a pretty little fishing village in southeastern France - at least it was until the 1960s when the French and Italian Riviera began to attract the attention of the so-called "jet set". Although St Tropez is no longer the haunt of rich socialites that it once was, luxury yachts still easily outnumber fishing boats.

This is point-and-shoot photo shows St Tropez village viewed from above.

I usually have something to say when posting pics. This is St Martin however, just sit back, and enjoy the view of the port.

Spiral Staircase at St Paul’s Cathedral

Built-in the early 1700s, the Dean’s staircase in St Paul’s Cathedral, London is more recently known as the entrance to Professor Trelawney’s divination classroom in the Harry Potter films.

The medieval spiral staircase features wrought iron spindles and patterns that are beautifully forged into the balustrades.

St. Kevin was born somewhere in the midlands of Ireland in 498 ad. He became a monk and decided to follow in the footsteps of St. Patrick. However, he became disenchanted and decided to take up a hermit`s life and spend his day in prayer and quite contemplation. He set out on a journey to look for a suitable place. He entered the Wicklow mountains near Blessington and travelled west for 30miles along this path through the valley till he came to Glendalough { The Glen of the two lakes } and there in a cave, overlooking the upper lake, he made his home.

The cave, called St Kevins Bed, is still there and still accesable.

Kevins fame spread, and people came to see him from far and wide. When he died in 617 ad, Glendalough quickly turned into a place of pilgrimage and a monastic city complete with 7 churches, a cathedral and a round tower was built. Pilgrims would travel along St Kevins Way and pray and do penance on the journey. The paving slabs on the path exist from that period.

It became a centre of learning until it was destroyed by a number of Viking raids in 835 ad. They were based in Dublin, which was a Viking city.

It wasn't until 1014, at the battle of Clontarf, that Brian Boru, drove them out of Ireland.

The ruins of the churches are still standing including the round tower and they are preserved and looked after through the wonderful work of the Office of Public works and the Wicklow National Parks and many volunteer organisations.

And there is no charge for visiting this wonderful unspoiled place!

Its amazingly beautiful and peaceful place. A major tourist attraction. I am not of a religious disposition, but it is the most moving, spiritual place I have ever visited.

I am so lucky to have it on my doorstep.

Many thanks to my great Flickr friends.

The Cathedral Church of Saints Asaph and Cyndeyrn, commonly called St Asaph Cathedral, is a cathedral in St Asaph, Denbighshire, north Wales. It is the episcopal seat of the Bishop of St Asaph. The cathedral dates back 1,400 years, while the current building dates from the 13th century.

A church was originally built on or near the site by Saint Kentigern in the 6th century (other sources say Saint Elwy in 560). Saint Asa (or Asaph), a grandson of Pabo Post Prydain, followed after this date.

The earliest parts of the present building date from the 13th century when a new building was begun on the site after the original stone cathedral was burnt by soldiers of King Edward I during the Second Welsh War in 1282.

The rebellion of Owain Glyndŵr resulted in part of the cathedral being reduced to a ruin for seventy years. The present building was largely built in the reign of Henry Tudor and greatly restored in the 19th century.

Ferdinand Pasman und Friedrich Bonn, beide Köln, entwarfen die Pfarrkirche St. Karl Borromäus in Köln-Sülz, die 1930 eingeweiht wurde.

I mentioned yesterday that these Infra Red shots are really about the key concepts of composition and light and shade. The surreal effect of IR, especially on living things is dream-like. But the fundamentals of composition become even more important when the image is taken in a point and shoot low resolution sensor camera. As it was in the early days of photography, you need to get the composition right in-camera, and avoid being overawed by the IR effects.

You'll never see a photograph like this blown up to poster size (small post card might be the best size at this resolution), but that doesn't mean it can't still be an interesting shot. One day I'll try this same angle with my pinhole camera. It'll look like something out of the 1840s. I'll have to set up my dark room first.

The stunning church by Bartley Green Reservoir

The church dates from the 15th century. It was altered around 1751 when the wooden tower was rebuilt in stone, restored in 1873 and there were other alterations and additions 1931 – 1932 by Bateman. There was another restoration in 1947 following a fire.

The tower main arch has a hood mould with head stops depicting King George V and Queen Mary.

The building is constructed from sandstone in a red and grey colour, until 1965 the tower contained two bells.[2] A new church hall was constructed in 2005

This is St Cuthberts chapel at Alnmouth in Northumberland, We could not find our way here on our last visit to this area but having done more research on Google earth we at last found a spot to leave our car and follow a track to this point.

Built in 1869-70, the Mortuary chapel was built as part of a plan to reopen a cemetery on Church Hill south of the village of Alnmouth. The chapel is not the first church building on the hill, St Waleric's chapel stood on the hill before gradually declining after the reformation along with unrest and erosion of the hill. In the early 1800's a storm broke through the peninsula cutting off the village from the hill and diverting the river The chapel had its roof removed by the National Trust to deter squatters and is now grade 2 listed.

This is a two shot blend to retain detail in the sky, The wet area on the right is part of the harbour / river Aln. I don`t like the holiday caravans on the far bank but I wanted to show part of the river .

I have many more shots of this chapel and the cross on the hill plus the river so I will concentrate on this area for the next few days .
