SS.MM. los Reyes, Don Felipe y Doña Letizia, presidieron la final española de FameLab, el mayor certamen internacional de monólogos científicos que organizan en nuestro país la Fundación Española para la Ciencia y la Tecnología (FECYT) y el British Council, con la colaboración de la Obra Social “la Caixa”.
Juan Margalef, de 30 años, se impuso al resto de participantes con el monólogo "Preguntas y catástrofes", en el que explicaba cómo preguntas sin aparente importancia han dado lugar a nuevas ramas de la ciencia.
Margalef estudió Matemáticas y Ciencias Físicas en la Universidad Complutense de Madrid y actualmente trabaja en el grupo de investigación Field theories and statistical mechanics de la unidad asociada de la Universidad Carlos III de Madrid y el Instituto de Estructura de la Materia (IEM) – CSIC.
The SS Moyie was built in 1898 for the Canadian Pacific Railway. It carried passengers and freight on Kootenay Lake in British Columbia for 59 years. Today it is the world's oldest intact passenger sternwheeler, and has been beautifully restored and open for tours in Kaslo, BC.
The wreck of the SS Dicky, an iron screw steamship washed ashore during a storm in 1893. Dicky Beach, near Caloundra on Queensland’s Sunshine coast, is named after the shipwreck.

The SS Great Britain was designed by I K Brunel, the first large ocean-going ship to combine a steel hull and screw propeller. Preserved in an excellent museum in Bristol, located in the dry dock where she was built. This image was created in Hugin by merging two separate photographs.
De Rotterdam (V) is één van de bekendste naoorlogse Nederlandse passagiersschepen, in dienst van de Holland-Amerika Lijn. Het maakte tussen 1959 en eind 2000 het laatste decennium mee van de trans-Atlantische lijnvaart en was daarna een succesvol cruiseschip. Sinds 4 augustus 2008 ligt het schip voor enkele jaren aan het Derde Katendrechtse Hoofd in de Maashaven in Rotterdam als drijvend multifunctioneel centrum.
