Really liked Kingpin's design in the movie. Saw Kaiju Dan's amazing Kingpin build and was inspired to make my own. Link to his photo here:

www.flickr.com/photos/steelex709legocreations/31434330317...

I decided to brick-build the head, mainly because it matched up well with the tan colored hands. I also felt putting a minifig head would feel out of proportion with the body.

I'm really happy with the fact that I incorporated a bowtie into the build, I think it adds a lot to the figure. I know there isn't supposed to be a flower on Kingpin's suit, but I added it there for some variation in color. I think it works pretty well :)

What do you guys think? I'm thinking of changing this build to make it more human-proportioned, like how Kingpin is in the comics. Comments are, as always, very much appreciated! :D

From Spider-man: Into the Spider-verse

I painted the black Wildstyle hoodie piece white, while it conveniently had a purple interior already.

"Be careful what you wish for, Parker."

Well, I was working on a half custom of Koska Reeves on Sunday when suddenly the Spider-Man: No Way Home teaser trailer actually leaked for real. Now it was just released officially!

We had been waiting for any bit of official material for so long that I'm not afraid to admit I watched it early lol. The curiosity was way too strong, and honestly I couldn’t really see anything in there that necessarily surprised me in the leaked version anyway? It was all stuff we've already seen/heard about but it was still very cool even through iPhone inception at 144p quality yesterday. Definitely didn’t ruin the experience of watching it finished in HD tonight that’s for sure.

Anyway, I've been waiting to make a big NWH edit for quite some time now so I immediately dropped everything to make this as soon as the trailer leaked!

There's a lot going on here obviously. Phoenix Customs' Spidey figures are of course right in front with a handful of my own customs from years past battling it out around some portals opening at Fisk Tower. Decided to keep the center portal in a purple color to be sort of reminiscent of the time branches seen in the Loki finale 🌀

Really fun to incorporate Doc Ock right in the middle too even though I don't actually own the minifig. He was ripped from New Elementary's review on the set. They surprisingly had like the perfect shot I needed of him lol

I did also take some shots of Willem Dafoe's Green Goblin wrangling with Miles & Peter B. Parker from Into the Spider-Verse, but it was getting way too crowded up there.

This will be a lot more fun to revisit eventually with my own customs 😉🎨

I have done some cyberpunk style moc for a few times already, but I’m still love doing it, today I’m bringing you guys a new scene for a futuristic Tokyo with the spider-man gang! This is the biggest scene I’ve done, I’ve always want to design a bigger scale city scene, and now I have a chance to achieve that in digital form. This scene inspired by lots of sci fi movies, especially the color tone from Into the spiderverse. I spent quite some time on detailing the futuristic city and signs/ lighting, also those flying vehicles, please zoom in if you want to explore more details. Hope you guys enjoy!

Custom LEGO Andrew Garfield (Peter #3) from The Amazing Spider-Man 2 to celebrate Spider-Man: No Way Home completed ✅

So, this is it! The Amazing Spider-Man revisited in 2022 as a fully 100% painted custom minifigure

Started working on this in Dec 2021 and slowly continued on/off until mid July. Wasn’t always working on it, but to tell you the truth I have no idea where the last 8 months went

That being said, I learned a lot about painting LEGO Spider-Man suits by hand with this process. It’s helped to inform the work on Tobey already too. I improved upon many past mistakes here, and made a new custom that I’m really happy with.

A long process of reference studying, planning, super intentional painting, organization & constant precision coupled with various techniques/micro considerations are what’s required to pull these off

It really is some of the most challenging work you can do. Painting the webbing by hand is already enough, but it’s when you have to paint the spider symbols & highlight lines into the pre-painted suit texturing that gets you to start questioning your sanity 😵‍💫

Mask and torso designs were inspired by @phoenixcustomsllc. Boot designs inspired by @jaka.brick_. Thanks again to @htwfilms for the idea to use Antoni Porowski’s head from LEGO’s Queer Eye set for Andrew Garfield’s face. Better than any likeness I would have come up with/painted myself.

Going back to remake this custom 8 years after the original showcase has been a really fun blast from the past. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 was hugely foundational for my channel’s life post-Clone Wars.

Finishing filming the new Peter #3 showcase now, and then getting back to work on Tobey.

By the way, it’s still just “a photoshop” 😂

Just happened to take this shot last night

Happy bday Andrew Garfield 🎉

Aircoach 142 D 15748 is seen on O'Connell Bridge with a southbound service on route 700 to Leopardstown. The bus is in an all-over ad for "Spider-man: Across The Spiderverse". 22/07/2023

Introducing the greatest character in Spider-Man into the Spider-Verse.

Spider-Verse was such a great movie, it's definitely my favorite Spider-Man movie, and one of my favorite animated movies. Nicholas Cage absolutely nailed this role and I pray we get more of him in the sequel.

This Minifigure came from Minifigfx on eBay. It's digital printed with a custom trenchcoat piece. A spider is printed on the back of it.

This photo was inspired by Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, which I've been watching pretty much on a loop lately!

It was also taken for this week's podcast episode, which is a discussion on shooting both LEGO and action figures, and the challenges associated with each. You can give it a listen here.

See what I did there?

I just got back from Into The Spiderverse and it was incredible! I’ll try and get a more fleshed-out review up later, but wow! I’m honestly impressed with what Sony has created. An absolutely incredible film with stunning animation style almost ripped right from the comic book pages. One of the best movies I’ve seen in a while. Seriously, go watch it!

I wanted to draw something for the spiderverse movie coming out tomorrow so I drew this on the whiteboard witch took about 2 days so yeah I hope you all like it😁👍

Trying something different here. Typically, I lean on colors in my LEGO shots, but kept it black and white for Spider-Man Noir.

This is not actually a black and white photo, though. I just stuck with black and grey bricks in the build, and used a single, white light in the background.

What do you think? Thanks for looking

LEGO Tobey Maguire (Peter #2) from Sam Raimi’s original Spider-Man trilogy to celebrate Spider-Man: No Way Home ✅

Finally, after nearly a year - the final 100% painted Spider-Man custom. Webslingers are all done ️

On/off progress on Peter#2 began in like early August I think. Making The Amazing Spider-Man prior really helped to inform the work here, and I was able to apply everything I learned for an even better end result 🔍️

Once again, it still took a long process of reference studying, planning, organization, intentional painting, constant precision, and a couple dozen other micro considerations along the way!

Mask and torso designs were again inspired by @phoenixcustomsllc. Boot designs were inspired by @lifedady1989 this time. Painted face design inspired by @crosscheck_figure.

Sculpted hairpiece doesn’t quite hit the mark, but it works for now. I’ll be swapping it once @crosscheck_figure's “Random Guy” printed customs ship out 📦

Having the chance to make such a legendary piece of our childhoods like this was really cool. In many ways, Tobey Maguire will always be our Spider-Man.

Showcase video is out on YT now. Parts 2/3 of the long-form tutorial series on painting this suit are also available on Patreon 🎥

Thankful to finally be done painting Spidey suits 😵‍💫

Cya chump 👋

Congrats to the casts and crews of Spiderverse and Black Panther on their Oscar wins! 2 films which are more than worthy of their rewards. Spiderverse may have been my favorite film from this year and was very worthy of the Best Animated Film title, and the incredible costumes, locations, and score of Black Panther were some of the best I've experienced in movies to this day. Congrats to everybody involved with the movies!

Spider-Man: No Way Home is officially releasing today here in the US. About to go see it in a few hours, but of course I wanted to share something cool with you guys first ;)

In another timeline where Peter used the pincers with the Integrated Suit during the final battle of Spider-Man: No Way Home!

Finished painting this figure a while ago, and now recently completed the paint work on @tuminio's pincer pieces too.

They might not have been in the movie, but @hottoyscollectibles still included them on their pre-release prototype and they looked great on it. Took some extra time to paint up these LEGO compatible versions from @tuminio - definitely worth it though!

Working toward wrapping on Andrew Garfield's Amazing Spider-Man next once I get back from Star Wars Celebration Anaheim 2022 🎨

Taskmaster hood + CW Ventress head + CMF Series 4 surfer girl = the closest minifigure of Spider-Gwen without non-lego customization.

It's not perfect, but it's still missing the light blue shoes. Any suggestions on how to further improve this minifigure?

Favorite Films of 2018

These were all released in 2018:

1.RBG

I hope Ruth Bader Ginsburg never dies. She’s my personal superhero.

www.imdb.com/title/tt7689964/?ref_=nv_sr_1

2.Black KkKlansmen

The acting in this was phenomenal and such an important story to tell…really makes you think about how we still have so far to go and how the present is in some ways repeating the past with all that has happened under fascist racist Trump. I’ve always wondered how terrifying it must have been to be the first African American police officer in a district but the real terror in this isn’t how Ron Stallworth was used to try to betray the force he joined against his people but, to me, the hideous lengths people will go to in order to reaffirm their own white supremacy and harm others in the process. It’s not that I am unaware of history…it’s the fact that hate crimes still keep happening because people are this hateful and ignorant.

www.imdb.com/title/tt7349662/?ref_=nv_sr_1

3.If Beale Street Could Talk

I’m always a little skeptical about film adaptations, especially for one of the best writers of all time, James Baldwin, but Barry Jenkins really does a great job in terms of bringing the beauty and terror in the original story with cinematic wonder. Also, this film has an incredible soundtrack. I was sad this didn’t earn more Golden Globes! I am even more devastated by the fact that the institutionalized racism of the prison industrial complex in America still exists and still splits up so many families.

www.imdb.com/title/tt7125860/?ref_=nv_sr_2

4.Blindspotting

More than any other film this year, I felt like my heart was literally in my throat. Really phenomenal sense of acting and dealing with real modern issues of police brutality and gentrification, of racism and classism both in Oakland, California. There’s a really strong sense of the development of the different human relationships in this film. I feel like this was an overlooked gem from this year!

www.imdb.com/title/tt7242142/?ref_=nv_sr_1

5.Bohemian Rhapsody

I grew up listening to Queen and so I felt very nostalgic watching this and seeing how well they even synced up the Live Aid performance. Rami Malek really does a phenomenal job here and it’s an incredible life story to tell. I actually paid to watch this in the theater twice. I was singing out Queen songs the whole bike ride home.

www.imdb.com/title/tt1727824/?ref_=nv_sr_1

6.Won’t You Be My Neighbor?

I told myself I wasn’t going to cry in this film and then I sobbed so loudly I thought someone was going to have to escort me out. I watched Mr. Rogers’ Neighborhood when I was a kid but had no idea about the man behind the show and saw some of the more heart wrenching segments he did about feeling not wanted or even assassination with new adult eyes…I also didn’t know about his friendship with François Scarborough Clemmons and I somehow missed how kind he had been to Jeff Erlanger. There were many years I didn’t watch as I grew older and I regret that a bit because I think Fred Rogers had a bit of wisdom for all of us at any age.

www.imdb.com/title/tt7681902/

7.Roma

I have to honor the fact that this film would have ranked higher if the director Alfonso Cuaron was indigenous Mexican vs. from white European ancestry. This film is absolutely beautiful to look at, though, (kind of reminds me of Fellini and Tati both) and I still think it celebrates the poor female caretaker who is more of a parent than the actual parents. However, his caretaker in real life should have received some money in exchange for her story…there’s some things on this back story I don’t feel quite comfortable with our it would have ranked higher.

www.imdb.com/title/tt6155172/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1

Stream on Netflix: www.netflix.com/title/80240715

8.Happy as Lazzaro

The first 30-45 minutes of this are super boring but keep watching-there’s a twist that turn this could be just a bunch of decent Italian countryside with white people being oppressed into an actual inventive storyline. I promise…even though it’s (primarily) about white people.

www.imdb.com/title/tt6752992/?ref_=nv_sr_1

Stream free if you have Netflix: www.netflix.com/title/81004245

9.Burning

Korean director Chang-dong Lee took an approximate 20 page Haruki Murakami short story and made it into a 2 1/2 hour film so I’d really like to see what he could do with 1Q84! I re-read this story after seeing the film as I hadn’t read it in over a decade and I actually really like what was added to the film in terms of character development and plot. Best of all is the mood and overall arc of the film in my opinion and the cinematography as well!. I also think it worked to move the story to near the border between North and South Korea vs. Japan and set it during modern day times with the fragments of politics internationally lurking in the background.

www.imdb.com/title/tt7282468/

10.Black Panther-

I loved the wonder of Wakanda and I loved that my students of color have a superhero that resembles them to look up to. My only critique of the film is that there is enough of a plot regarding white people and their greed without having to pit an African American against an African.

www.imdb.com/title/tt1825683/?ref_=nv_sr_1

Stream free on Netflix: www.netflix.com/title/80201906

11.Into the Spiderverse-

Fantastic graphics and story line. I could have gone without the spiderpig or spiderham or whatever but this was a wild adventure, especially in 3D. I’m also a sucker for multiple worlds.

www.imdb.com/title/tt4633694/?ref_=nv_sr_1

12.Sorry to Bother You

I loved this film for it’s pro Union-anti capitalist and conspiracy theory with a ring of truth sentiment but the addition of elements of experimental fiction in it definitely made it more fascinating to me. Tessa Thompson is also amazing in this. For this being the first film directed and written by Boots Riley, it was fantastic and I’m hopeful that future films will be just as amazing or better.

www.imdb.com/title/tt5688932/?ref_=nv_sr_1

Hello 2022!

Tons of work has been going into this since the movie came out. Making Andrew Garfield's Amazing Spider-Man again has been a real challenge, but also a crazy throwback to 2014.

Thanks to @phoenixcustomsllc for design inspiration and @htwfilms for the face idea! 🎨

Still a lot left to do on his back and the legs. I’m so excited to finally share this with you guys though!

Really proud of how this is turning out. I’ve learned a lot more about how to paint Spidey suits in the last month.

Paint work like this isn’t fast but it’s always worth it ✅

There really aren’t a lot of great taglines from those movies.

Anyway…it’s been a minute since I last posted an edit of the new Andrew Garfield Spidey.

As some of you know, The Amazing Spider-Man custom here has actually been done since like mid July. Designed this whole preview for patrons around that time too.

Finally getting around to filming the proper showcase video pretty soon here, so I’ll talk a little more about this then. Really proud of the end result though. It was a blast to revisit guy 8 years later.

New video comparing it to the original 2014 one is already up on the main channel: youtu.be/o7hWB0FWY2c
