In 1970, two men in the USA named George Wenn and Ray Bokelman said that if Ivan Mauger won his third World Final in a row at Wrocław (Poland), they would have the winning bike gold plated. Mauger duly won the World Final that year, and true to their promise, the bike was taken to America and Gold plated, and so was born the "Triple Crown Special".
The machine currently resides at Canterbury Museum in Christchurch, New Zealand.

Some scholars believe that the name "carnation" comes from "coronation" or "corone" (flower garlands), as it was one of the flowers used in Greek ceremonial crowns.
Carnations are often worn on special occasions, especially at weddings.
At the turn of the century dandies would not leave the house without a white or red carnation in the buttonhole of their suit. With the end of this tradition and the fact that carnations are so easily cultivated and grown, the flower has lost some of its popularity. Although apparently in the UK it is still the most sold flower
However, carnations are not only beautiful and long lasting flowers, they also send a message.
When you receive a red carnation bouquet, it means, "My heart aches for you" and when you receive white carnations the sender is saying: "I am still available."
For the most part, carnations express love, fascination, and distinction.
Have a gentle day and thank you for viewing, Magda (*_*)

There really is something marvellous about the grilles on classic Buicks. This is the '56 Special wagon, and no exception to that rule.

Zen says everything is divine so how can anything be special? All is special. Nothing is non-special so nothing can be special.

Definitely distinctive, but no longer Special Duty in the manner intended by Lagrange.
Special Duty has new meaning for this unique piece of equipment. The days of pulling coal and merchandise freight over the rails are gone, along with everything under the hood that made it a locomotive.
Housing complex technology to analyze track deficiencies, a new lease on life has been afforded to this former Norfolk and Western unit. Once known as SD35 #1530, she wears an attractive attire and new number, #34.

Last Saturday, a train of two 94AA wagons arrived in Kłodzko, headed by SM42-2182 from ZEM Łabędy. The train was organized by TOZKiOS Pyskowice to take an over 100-year-old freight wagon from the Kłodzko Główne station to Pyskowice. The wagon comes from 1905 and was donated by PKP PLK. The transport was very successful, and wagon despite its age and condition, did not cause any problems during the journey. Such a trip gave the opportunity to capture a very interesting sight on the passenger-freight train.
At the foto:

Used in BBC Countryfile magazine March 2009, wow!!
This was shot as a Leaf-Cutter Bee delivered some bedding material to a hole in a brick wall. I didn't see them again, perhaps they moved out! Clearly the hole has been lined with leaves so it was a definite attempt to nest, we'll see.
I know this is a little grainy but I love it, it shows how hard they work to build a home. First they cut out the leaf portion, then roll it and carry it home!
Again the D300 and 105mm Micro Nikkor, a great combination from Nikon.
