The name 'chrysanthemum' is derived from the Greek words chrysos (gold) and anthemon (flower).
The chrysanthemum is also the flower of November but are now already available in the shops.
Some varieties are available the whole year round
The larger variety, like this one, I only see once Autumn.

I was walking over the fixed dunes to Gullane Point one evening, looking across Aberlady Bay to the city in the distance, and for just a few moments, everything was bathed in this very special light ....

books that might be deemed offensive go into a locked room called special collections. They're mostly art books or books with nudity but there are some surprises there. Any student who asks to go in can use the books in there.
Photographer's Special held in January 2026 at United States Sugar (Sugar Express) of Clewiston, Florida, featuring 4-6-2 148 restored to its late 1950s-early 1960s appearance. The first day featured 148 pulling cane cars, and the second day featured a passenger train.
CSX F3A 116 pushes MARC train P900, a Washington to Baltimore baseball special to bring Northern Virginia fans of the Orioles to a game at Camden Yards through Jessup on the B&O. Catching an ABA set of F-units in the 1990's was pretty common in the area, but it soon went away.
The 116 was built for the Clinchfield as F3A 800 and was later rebuilt as a F7, powering many passenger specials for Family Lines, Seaboard System, CSX, MARC, Potomac Eagle and many others along the way. The 116 even attended the Streamliner at Spencer Foamathon in 2014, posing as a C&O motor.
In 2017, CSX returned the 800 to its previous Clinchfield glory and it led the 75th Anniversary Edition of the Santa Train over its former home trackage. And I was there.

Das war ein sehr spezieller Nachmittag in Bad Camberg. Das Auto war für ´ne halbe Stunde in der Werkstatt und ich bin mit Kátya etwas länger durch die Felder gelaufen, kein besonderes Licht, nur wenige Fotos geschossen .. nichts zum Zeigen bei Flickr. Aber als ich das Auto abgeholt hatte und durch die Stadt fuhr Richtung Zuhause ahnte ich, was kommen würde und fuhr hoch auf die Höhe bei der Kreuzkapelle und schon ging die Show los. Ich habe schon viele Sonnenuntergänge gesehen und fotografiert, aber was am Donnerstag 8. Dezember geschah, war einmalig schön, ich liebe Sonnenuntergänge ! ich fotogrfierte bis der Akku leer war. In den nächsten Tagen werde ich Euch einige der Aifnahmen zeigen.
_ This was a very special afternoon in Bad Camberg. The car was for half an hour in the workshop and I ran with Kátya a bit longer through the fields, no special light, few photos shot .. nothing to show at Flickr. But when I picked up the car and drove through the city toward home, I knew what was coming and drove up to the top of the hill at the "Kreuzkapelle" and the Show started. I have seen and photographed a lot of sunsets, but what happened on Thursday, December 8th, was once beautiful, I love sunsets ! I photographed until the battery was empty. In the next few days I will show you some of the pics.

It arrived at Melbourne (Tullamarine) on completion of the delivery flight from France 28 November 2010. Delivery route: Toulouse - Dubai - Singapore - Melbourne.

The backlog has been so large for so long that I haven't put up anything from the archives for a long time. I figured Thanksgiving is as good a time as any for a lookback. I dipped into the folder of scans done for my book.
There are a number of scans that I thought were a shoe-in but didn't make the final cut once the hard choices had to be made.
The WC was down to a little over a week of independence left in its existence. Train OACTI is making the run west from Sault Ste. Marie to Gladstone over the Soo Line mainline. Most of the train is empty steel hoppers used to shuttle iron ore pellets between the Tilden Mine and Algoma Steel in the Canadian Soo.
The old feed mill at Engadine, MI makes a fine prop. Thanks to a Google visit I confirmed that the mill is still there 24 years later, unfortunately the evergreens seen on this side of the mill are now huge and pretty much completely obscure it from view.
