Midwaste Space Peoples - Chicago, IL - Summer '20

Webb has discovered what appears to be a new record-holder for the most distant known galaxy — shattering its own previous record. This galaxy existed only 290 million years after the big bang.

The galaxy, JADES-GS-z14-0, is unusually bright given its distance. That luminosity seems to mostly come from young stars. The amount of starlight implies the galaxy is several hundreds of millions of times the mass of the Sun.

Data from Webb’s mid-infrared instrument also reveals the surprising presence of oxygen. Detected this early in the life of the galaxy, the oxygen suggests that multiple generations of very massive stars already lived and died before Webb’s observations.

For all of these reasons, this galaxy is very different from those predicted to exist in the early universe by models and simulations. Though this is science in progress, Webb’s discovery may have profound implications for what we know of our cosmic history: blogs.nasa.gov/webb/2024/05/30/nasas-james-webb-space-tel...

[Image description: A field of thousands of small galaxies of various shapes and colors on the black background of space. A bright foreground star with diffraction spikes is at lower left. Near the center, a tiny white box outlines a region and two diagonal lines lead to a larger box at the upper right, enlarging the view of this area. Within the box is a banana-shaped blob that is blueish-red in one half and distinctly red in the other half. An arrow points to the redder portion and is labeled “JADES GS z 14 0.”]

That was my third entry for the contest "Out of this World Space Builds" on Lego Idea.

Story:

“We meet again our two fellow classic space figs, Eddy and Cindy with their new outfits. They are now going on a new adventure, exploring space!

Unfortunately, this spaceship doesn't have a rover to explore the surface of new discovered planets but have a little useful speeder bike attached to the rear. Well, Cindy have difficulties to handle the speeder and is kind of scared by its power ... (both minifigs have a double side face, one normal and the other scared ... the speeder bike is definitively difficult to handle!!)”

In fact, it was designed to be with this diorama but it was a large spaceship so I decided to substitute another (smaller) and make this one on his own.

PS: Don’t judge my photoshop skills, I’m a beginner ^_^

Special thanx to KC of No Starch Press. Neat book plenty of beautiful space builds to look at by Peter Ried aka Legoloverman and Tim Goddard aka Rogue Bantha, also some directions for a few of the smaller mocs in the book. Laid out more like a story of space from present to future. I love Pete's building style and am sure it influenced me when I first saw his mocs years ago, I cannot wait to build and snap some pics of the derection builds in the book.

Built this little MOC today so I could take a photo of this intergalactic badass. He's just strolling through this space quadrant looking to cash in on his next target.

For one summer in the mid 80's, I decided to teach myself how to do video editing... So I piled up a bunch of costume and prop elements; I commandeered an amazing studio space to build sets in; and I talked my friends into playing in costumes for the summer. These are some screenshots of the 15 minute video that resulted. I mean, literally screenshots... right now, I don't have the means to grab a frame digitally, so I pointed my camera at the television screen as the video played... ergo the moire pattern... perhaps will look into more advanced methodology... but there's something apropos to this lo-tech approach. The special effects were comparable to early Dr Who, the total budget was around $90 (mostly flashlights and plastic), and it was a lovely lark with fine friends... (and I did learn a thing or two about editing!)

New school of architecture, Nantes

P-Sharan pinhole camera / Fuji Velvia 50 (probably expired) -- no tripod || This is not a double exposure. As far as I know, anyway.

space image created from refractograph, soap bubble and photoshop

I wanted to make a police care that looked like it belonged in the same genre of the other vehicles.

Having missed the Space Station and Monument, at least I managed to point the camera in the right direction as it heading off to the East

There ain't no space and time

To keep our love alive

We have existence and it's all we share

There ain't no real truth

There ain't no real lies

Keep on pushin' 'cause I know it's there

Space shuttle Discovery is attached to Launch Pad 39A as the sun rises over NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida. It took the spacecraft about six hours to make the journey, known as "rollout," from the Vehicle Assembly Building to the pad.

Display made for the french convention "Brick à Dole" 2017. The V2 with a new part "Starship Troopers" was presented to the french convention "Let\'s Go" 2018 in Schiltigheim.

This MOC is a collaborative diorama created with my friend Sweetsha & N3rik.

On this diorama we find the new theme Space Lego but also the Classic Space Lego.

It is intentionally ultra colored, it gives a side very fun :)

There are also many references to the great films of SF, pop culture and it\'s full of humor.

Obviously nothing will happen as planned, Space is going to shit. ^^
