These 2" nocturnal arachnids get thier common name from the fact that they run like the wind to catch prey. The jaws are vertically aligned and they walk on only 3 pair of legs. One pairof legs are sensors. The peripaps are used like antennae. Non-poisionous but can bite. Yikes!
The wind scorpion has been called the official arachnid of the war in Iraq. According to one source, during World War I, soldiers stationed in Egypt staged fights between captive wind scorpions and placed bets on the outcome.

CARACTÈRES MACROSCOPIQUES
Pileus campanulé à convexe, largement mamelonné, 2,8-4,5 cm de diam., visqueux, blanc, mamelon de certains pileus grisâtre, marge enroulée à incurvée.
Lames subdécurrentes, espacées, épaisses, cireuses, blanches, lamellules présentes.
Stipe excentré, légèrement atténué à la base ou à l’apex, parfois tordu, 4,2-4,8 cm de longueur, 1,2-1,9 cm de diam., visqueux
Odeur agréable, saveur indistincte.
