This is a first time sighting for me. It didn't hang around for long unfortunately. I'm not sure it will be possible to get a more specific ID from this image, but feel free to tell me if you know.
Projeto2Cores

I caught this action on my friend's railroad out in Oley, PA. I grew up not too far from his house, but his railroad is set on the other side of the continent. This makes it seem as though we traveled very far to see SP trains in their natural habitat, plying the mountains of the West Coast.

You could call this mecha archaeology -- or maybe Throwback Thursday -- I built the original version of this Frame thirteen years ago. I wasn't truly happy with it then and I've finally made the changes I thought were necessary.

SD40T-2. I have given it a light weathering to take some of the "new locomotive shine" off it. I started by using Tamiya Panel Line paint around the doors and other cavities on the long hood. Then an overspray of clear Matt and a spray of very thin white to fade it a bit. Next I weathered the trucks using AK Interactive weathering pencils. I do this by dipping a brush in water, drying it slightly on a tissue, and then rubbing the brush on the tip of the pencil to pull the color off. Then I use the brush to apply the color an spread it around. Keep the brush damp, not wet, and that allows you to blend the colors. The body also got this treatment in places. I then returned to the Tamiya Panel Line paint and using a brush rubbed it over the top of the hood and red ends. Start thin and build up. It was also used for darkening the grills. Once all this was dry I oversprayed the whole model with thin grimy black, about a 50/50 mix of paint and water, and also a very light spray of rust color. Finished of with a Matt overspray.
