A nicely colored Guibemantis sp. from Andasibe National Park. Possibly part of the large G. liber complex. These interesting frogs were quite common in the axils of Pandanus plants which held water even during dry periods and whose spikes likely provide protection from predators.
Due to its proximity to the capital, Antananarivo, Andasibe is probably one of the most frequently visited national parks in the country. It's especially popular for its large, and relatively easily viewed, population of Indri lemurs. Other visitors were quite surprised to find me looking for frogs while they watched the lemurs above.

Still catching up on editing old shots; this is one of several jumpers I photographed awhile back and released, and just now got around to editing. Definitely an immature Phidippus, possibly P. mystaceous or putnami but hard to say until it's mature. In any case, a beautiful spider and relatively cooperative - especially compared to the Peckhamia sp. and Maevia inclemens photographed and uploaded earlier!

"Bo" Golson a retired SP conductor lines up the turntable for the 18. The old turntable still turns, but prudence suggested it was not a good idea to put the engine on the table. The Laws Museum has done a great job of preserving all this stuff.
