1/29/13. In the backyard. The planting is about to commence, and this wheelbarrow may get to play a part. But only if we keep it off the highway.
Kevin was working on grilled chicken for his volleyball team gathering in our house tonight. He called me into the kitchen to admire da boyz lying at his feet. I took my camera with me into the kitchen and saw Mr. Grigsby desiring a bite. . . or two. . . or three or four. Well, you know what happens when I pick up my camera. Pretty soon we had Bogart, Magnus, Mr. Grigsby, Ariel, Cumin, Gumbo, Miss Raven, Vidalia and Curio all in the kitchen with us. How kind of us to "help" Kevin in that way. Made for quite the obstacle course for him as he busily prepared for the party.

Now for something I will actually listen to your opinions on. Two F7s: On the left is a $4 Brick Loot headlight brick. On the right is a $34 setup with a $10 LifeLites MCU, a $10 LifeLites rotator LED (top), and a BrickStuff warm white LED (bottom) which run upwards of $4 a piece. Sorry for the low-quality video.

Sunday afternoon in my kitchen, cooking up a little something with my new Polaroid back and my Wista 5x4. This is the smaller sized pack film, not the 5x4 size.
Shot on Fuji 100C pack film which I've found really loves anything red.
Something I found out is that the film plane on the Polaroid back is set further back (away from the lens) than a regular 5x4 dark slide which was causing a shift in the point of focus. For this shot I focused on the tomato furthest from the lens and now the one nearest to camera is tack sharp.
This is rather annoying because I plan to do some street portraits with this setup so it looks like I might have to focus on peoples ears to get their eyes in focus. We shall see...
My lovely bloggy and flickr friends who make my crafty life much fun. This is a little something for those creative friends that host fun giveaways, flickr groups, and quilting bees, as well as fantastic swaps. Thank you too all of you who swap with me this year and too all of you who gave me ideas, tips, and answer my e-mail with question about such and such. I love you all, and as a token of my friendship and gratitude I made this for you.

Something Old
found this old farm house and saw the morning sun on the windows
I wasn't going to upload these self portraits, originally, cause when I reviewed them later - I was shocked to see that they revealed something quite private about me. Like I was letting some parts of my indecision, the moments I waver before the crests & leaps of life, the parts of myself that are dark and gloomy and unlikeable be visible to my camera. I didn't expect those things to translate so clearly into the images and I felt so vulnerable about sharing them.
But I took some time and now I feel more objectively excited about the images, and if I find them embarrassing I can always delete them later.
Thanks for reading.
A special co-worker never got to see the old cat, so I drove by to say 'hi' and thank him for being a great human being. I'm sure he enjoyed it.
Iowa Pacific rolls a pair of E8s and two cars eastbound at B12 in Franklin Park on a deadhead move. The weather was swirling the drain and I wasn't very inspired for this move but they are E-units in 2014 so I couldn't just watch it.
Although I have many well-lit shots of them all over the place, I decided to shoot the old gals anyway. Rather than post a blah-color shot of them, I dicked around with the grayscale and pumped up the digital grain, otherwise known as noise. If the modern auto-rack wasn't in the background and ditchlights weren't on the 515, this could almost be an "old-timey" shot. But what the hell, I like it.
Taking a break from the UK photos. I am recovering for surgery - total knee replacement - so my mobility is pretty restricted right now. But the wind has died down and the sun is up so I thought I would put the Mini 3 up

Something Moonshine but I forget what. I remember them being good. Not Hickoids good, but still fun.
Rather than go to Mount Rushmore and take the same photograph as everyone else, I tried to do something different. Hopefully I'm not copying anyone else's photograph.

I spent my day working and working, and then shopping with some girlfriends. Which is more futile? The correct answer is obviously shopping. Something futile is something having no useful result and working has the useful result of earning money to go out shopping with your girlfriends, who as a matter of fact aren't girls any longer and need to feel as if they were. A fun day. Wouldn't have been fun if it wasn't for the futile part of it. So long live futility
The old city of Xichang is in and around old castle walls. There are old shops along the main streets and houses in the back street, roofed with black ceramic tiles, in various beautiful details while in coordination of similar style. This town have very strong, cozy, traditional, gentle, warm and charming atmosphere, and while walking about you often meet really breathtaking scene, like this photo.
I feel this town deserves the world heritage. It is so beautiful, and keeps people's traditional lovely life style. It's history and tradition of human life and civilization.
As in reality, I heard this town will be removed for development. Today while I was taking pic of building detail, an old man came to me and yelled something as if he was angry. I knew that he was saying me that the town will be destroyed next year. So it was true and these photo will be part of limited photo images of this town that will end its history next year.

Yesterday was chaotic; it was down to Kingston to meet up with Sylvia and her three monsters at Chuck E. Cheese's; and after that madness it was time to go celebrate my Opa's 80th Birthday with the family at Milestones downtown Kingston.
It was a long day; out of the house by 8:30 and I didn't get back until after 11:00 that night. But well worth it and a lot of fun... although I think Chuck E. Cheese may have scarred me for life.
So today was much quieter; Nard and I hit the annual used book sale at the Rockcliffe community centre, which served as a reminder as to why we always brave the crowds and go first thing on Saturday and not wait until Sunday. I only managed to pick up 21 books total, instead of my usual 60-80. But oh well, missing the first day was worth it to spend the day with Opa and crew.
After the book sale we stopped in at Jacobson's to pick up something sweet; I had shot all of the desserts previously so we splurged on something extra and each picked up one of these Irish Cream chocolates. They were very tasty and served well for today's Sweet Sunday prop.
Hope everyone has had a good weekend.
