A lot of Realtoys earlier efforts were nothing more than using Soma castings and selling them under their own branding. This Chevrolet C-10 based Fire Engine is one such model and also appears to be a copy of the Universal Toys equivalent which could usually be found under Dinky, Kidco and Uniborn brands. The plastic fire appliances are the only added 'modern" touches. Part of a 30 vehicle set. Mint and boxed.

Tow truck version of the Tomica based Peterbilt made by Soma. Like Pioneer now, Soma made quite a big range of pretty realistic but unlicensed low cost diecasts which were usually sold in multi sets and under various different brand names. I believe Soma still exist but mainly concentrate on very toy like diecast 4x4s.

We started with the bare frame, and it went together fairly seamlessly. The trickiest part was installing the fenders, but even that wasn’t too bad. Rides like a dream. Smooth, relaxed, but handles very well and is actually quite fast. The drivetrain all works flawlessly, and the bar ends are actually quite nice after using STI’s for so long. Absolutely love the Nitto Albatross bars. And these tires are incredible, the smoothest fastest rolling tires I’ve used to date! My dad chose every single part, so it is truly HIS bike!

Apparently keeping a bird theme to my handlebars, I am trying out the Soma Sparrow bars in place of the Nitto Albatross. I'm doing my best to give a comparison between size and hand positions between the two bars.

Climbing.

The changes taking place in the San Francisco neighborhoods of SoMa (South of Market) and Rincon Hill are astounding. The new high rises, the new TransBay Terminal, and other new infrastructure have transformed this former heavy industrial area to a modern city marvel...I made this photo to illustrate how the 'New' is being integrated with the 'Old'. The good news is, many of the remaining old buildings are being adapted to new purposes to be an integral part of this vibrant area of The City. A good example of this is the restaurant "Anchor & Hope" on Minna Street.
