An outbound Metra commuter train passes the Blommer Chocolate factory located right in the middle of downtown Chicago. Seeing inner-city carload industry like this is becoming more and more rare in big cities like Chicago. I'm not very familiar with the area, and was completely surprised to see (and smell) this while walking around town!
Oh MY! These babies know how to sleep! And they do the most incredibly funny things!

Happy Caturday!
These lovely hyacinths are in a large pot on my deck, the sweet aroma is heavenly and makes sitting out there a joy. They've come up without any help from me for a number of years now and they last a while. I love them and I hope you do too.
Wishing you a wonderful Springtime Saturday, now it's time to do some work in the yard. :-)
Lavender and Curry plants sitting in some old clay smoking pipe stem fragments........a heady mixture !. HMM
In the spring and especially in the summer, it's a pleasure to walk around the countryside because you can enjoy the variety of smells in our climate: thyme (in the photograph), oregano, rosemary, lavender, fennel and my favorite, the soft, subtle smell of broom. I'm sure I'm forgetting others, but these are sufficient as a sample..
This shot was taken in a nature park near where I live, and close to the mountain of Montserrat, which it shares the formation and characteristics with.

The grizzly bear's highly developed sense of smell enables them to detect when there's a salmon in the water. The alert, focused look of this bear suggested she smelled a salmon, born out by her catching one seconds later. Chilko Lake, British Columbia.

Y’all know I was a childhood pyro. Can’t help my DNA because I still love the smell of gasoline, petrol and what ever they call it around the world. My MM entry for today’s theme 👃 smell. To this very day I still love the smell of petrol ⛽️. Unless we’re under 6’ of snow I will always pump. I actually worked P/T at a Texaco station so I could pump and whiff and get paid for it. I checked fluids, cleaned windshields and wore my Daisy Dukes and got more tips in the history of A-Z Texaco.
Mu Lavender bush was getting rather tatty so I pruned it heavily over the winter. But it now has a few slightly tatty flowers which are attracting the bees. So no Lavender sachets this year from this plant at least. HMM:))

Our February 2024 week-long trip to New Brunswick started off with single digit temps, and clear skies. After a six hour drive, NBSR train 120 departed McAdam, NB just after sunrise with 3 immaculate NBSR SD70M-2's and fresh Maine wood chips on the head-end. First shootable light was at the beginning of the dreaded Cork-Rooth road, shown here approaching Roach Road with NBSR 6409 leading the way headed to St. John, NB. February 18, 2024.
A couple sits on the floating dock at Lake McDonald and contemplates the natural process of fire and nature’s process as the smell of smoke fills the air from the Sprague Fire. The Sprague Fire, caused by a lightning strike along the Snyder Ridge was reported the evening of August 10th and is located southeast of Lake McDonald. The fire has burned 16,926 acres as crews continue to monitor fire activity and progression as the fire slowly backs downslope.
