Fruits of a stinking iris / Übelriechende Schwertlilie (Iris foetidissima)
in Botanical Garden, Frankfurt
It is known as "stinking" because some people find the smell of its leaves unpleasant when crushed or bruised, an odour that has been described as "beefy". (Wikipedia)
But who should crush Iris leaves?
“There are always flowers for those who want to see them.”
– Henri Matisse

and you oh, and you immediately - you want a croissant or a cookie or something right? And then you take two steps and it is gone!
So in the air, on the street was this little zone, for a moment, where the fragance was so rich and compelling...
To me, that is what photography is:
you walk along the street and something happens, and you get it
it is a visual that is as precise as that fragrance that is only in the air of the doorway.

Not far from the home of the Curly Cows
lies Happyville, a small village deep in one of the southern counties of England. The very happy residents show their eccentricity in their houses, building them in unconventional shapes and painting them all with bright colours. Their only slight nod to normality is to plant highly fragranced blossom trees in the streets so that in Spring the air is full of the beautiful smell of fresh blossom and the sound of pollen-hungry bees.

Terrestrial Gartersnake. Snakes actually smell with their tongues. They flick the tongue out and pick up particles in the air. When they retract the tongue back into their mouths, the particles are detected by what is know as the Jacobson's organ on the roof of their mouths. I took this photo at Reservation lake in the central mountains of Arizona USA

During the Summer especially when the sprinkler system is on Dragonflies for some reason love these white Echinacea when wet, you can actually see them move their head to the direction of the water,
Lots of you appreciated the close-up of my clematis - here is a wider view showing it flowers abundantly. And early too: last year I took a similar photo on 10 May, this year it started flowering from the beginning of April!
Yes, it has a faint but lovely sweet smell, which already attracts bees.

28 years, the lines are blurred, my memory faded yet still the pain goes on.

People don't sing about days that didn't happen and...
People don't cry for tears that weren't shed
Time doesn't stop when you close your eyes, and our...
Big ol' clock will keep on ticking till it dies
Can you hear the hum of the hummingbird?
Can you smell the breeze carrying leaves that it lured?
Can you cry for your mother and your father too?
Can you breathe until there's no air left in you?
What if there were no wings on a butterfly? And...
What if we walked a thousand days?
How long would it take if we all held hands? And...
How many miles could we go before our heads lay down?
Can you hear the hum of the hummingbird?
Can you smell the breeze carrying leaves that it lured?
Can you cry for your mother and your father too?
Can you breathe until there's no air left in you?
No one's going home tonight without a heartache and a moon light
Keep on moving on until there's nothing else to move on to and we're gone
Can you hear the hum of the hummingbird?
Can you smell the breeze carrying leaves that it lured?
Can you cry for your mother and your father too?
Can you breathe until there's no air left in you?
