Shortly after the start of the Columbus Art Association, a certificate of incorporation was passed that created the Columbus Gallery of Fine Arts, which later became the Columbus Museum of Art. Francis Sessions, an art-minded banker and entrepreneur, as well as Alfred Kelly and six other distinguished Columbus gentlemen were the first Trustees of the Gallery. Their purpose was to handle donations, promote the fine arts and to find land and erect a building to hold the art they would acquire. The Columbus Art Association’s mission became the establishment of the first art school in Columbus. Our fifth workshop focused on a technique that lets you approximate and scale objects quickly when creating travel sketches - Point Association. This technique builds on the more rigorous techniques of one and two-point perspective we've practiced in previous workshops. Attendees found this technique intuitive and exciting and can’t wait to get out in to the field and apply it to our fall Sketch Sessions.
This year, too, many musicians took part in the legendary JazzAscona jam sessions, which crowded Beach Lounge until 4 in the morning. (© FOTOPEDRAZZINI.CH)

The 'Masterlink Sessions’ are a joint venture of James Welch (MLP studios) and Stefan Redtenbacher (Redtenbacher's Funkestra).
Their aim is to create seriously funky music, have fun and
strengthen the community of creative and open-minded musicians who love Funk/Soul/Blues and Jazz.

From the Highlands of Scotland, Elephant Sessions bring youthful enthusiasm to their modern take on traditional Celtic music; called “neo-trad” or “post-traditional” music, their mix of folk, rock, funk and electronica has won them numerous awards. Their sets were well-attended, high-energy, and lively. The lighting created extreme photo-challenges!
