Four SD's lead MHURC (Huron-Rapid City) past the abandon elevator at Owanka, SD. The angles are endless here with the junked out cars and buildings if I had a little more side light to work with, maybe next time.

I would have given you all of my heart
but there's someone who's torn it apart
and she's taken almost all that I've got
but if you want, I'll try to love again
baby I'll try to love again but I know
The first cut is the deepest, baby I know
The first cut is the deepest
'cause when it comes to being lucky she's cursed
when it comes to lovin' me she's worst
but when it comes to being loved she's first
that's how I know
The first cut is the deepest, baby I know
The first cut is the deepest
I still want you by my side
just to help me dry the tears that I've cried
cause I'm sure gonna give you a try
and if you want, I'll try to love again
but baby, I'll try to love again, but I know
The first cut is the deepest, baby I know
The first cut is the deepest
'Cause when it comes to being lucky she's cursed
when it comes to lovin' me she's worst
but when it comes to being loved she's first
that's how I know
The first cut is the deepest, baby I know

A trio of CSX standard cabs lead J783-12 out of Dayton, OH with a short train bound for Queensgate Yard in Cincinnati. Colors in the Miami River Valley were fairly good this year, as this pocket of peaking foliage at SD Cabin can attest.

What I want to show you with this posting is how the color changes with some types of color patterns and genes. Lace Dolly and 007 were at one time exactly like the foal I've posted below. It's either blue or gray, I forget exactly what the verbiage is but it's interesting how they change over time. They start out either black and white or gray and white and eventually turn all white. You can see on Dolly above the dark areas on her skin where she used to have the gray markings.
even preggers, she can get all four off the ground, LOL

Shifting gears from the Alberta branchlines here's one from Marias Pass, yet another Altamont weekend. A pair of H1 SD40-2's shove an eastbound up the pass at MP 1160.1 of BNSF's Hi Line Subdivision
The L519 Edson Sub local heads across the causeway at Wabamun Lake with a short train. With the Sundance Power Plant pretty much converted to natural gas fuel, a good chunk of traffic handled by the L519 (flyash from burning coal) has been dramatically reduced. With the lack of flyash traffic, the local only runs this far once a week, down from the 3 day a week service schedule of the past.
My daughter is hiding behind me in the far left of the image, apparently she did not like the horn on the 5367!
It's in the middle of summer here now.
Maybe this is the first shot of Lovesong in pink hair.
I wonder if she is waiting for someone. lol!

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dignity_(statue)
Dignity (a.k.a. Dignity of Earth & Sky) is a sculpture on a bluff overlooking the Missouri River near Chamberlain, South Dakota. The 50-foot (15.24 meter) high stainless steel statue by South Dakota artist laureate Dale Claude Lamphere depicts an Indigenous woman in Plains-style dress receiving a star quilt. According to Lamphere, the sculpture honors the culture of the Lakota and Dakota peoples who are indigenous to South Dakota. Assisting Lamphere were sculptors Tom Trople, Jim Maher, Andy Roltgen, and Grant Standard. Automotive paint expert Brook Loobey assisted with the colors for the quilt, and Albertson Engineering of Rapid City, SD ensured the sculpture would endure the strong winds common in the area.

Representing the rich Native American culture of South Dakota, the 50-foot Native American woman gracefully wears a dress patterned after a two-hide dress of the 1850s. She holds outstretched a quilt featuring 128 stainless steel blue diamond shapes designed to flutter in the wind. During the day, her star quilt – a representation of respect, honor and admiration in Native American culture – glitters in the sun with color-changing pieces that move with the wind. At night, LED lights cause the diamond shapes to glow in the night sky, casting a peaceful presence easily visible from the Interstate.

I dressed Ribbon's in Ballet's favourite outfit. As the result Ballet was so mad at me. lol
Anyway I think this outfit suits Ribbon a lot too. I love loose socks + stripey socks combo with this dress.
