Just got back from our annual visit to RAF Cosford Air Museum. Full of vintage planes and ephemera, I seem to take similar shots every time we go, so I tried different things and exhibits this year! (Might post a few of the same though)
Shot this through glass, in a dimly lit room, didn't come out as bad as I expected!

...this is in my head...the reality is I’m sat at home in England, it’s 0°c outside and I’m waiting to take my Mum, whose 96 in a few weeks, to hospital for an exploratory. There’s at least 3 hours of the usual hanging about in front of me.
It’s a good job I’ve recently retired because how I would have fitted all this and more into my day I don’t know.
Anyways, I’ve dredged this up from a couple of years ago, deserted beaches are my heaven.
Home, at the moment, is my hell.
Couldn't think of an adequate story to go with this image. I'm drawn back to what it means to me looking at it. All I could think about was this song. It reminds me of my older brother I guess. Perhaps because I sat alone when photographing this scene, watching the darkness envelope these beautiful mountains and wished I wasn't. It brought back memories of many a late night spent with my older brother when we were teens. I took great comfort and trust in our conversations, his advice and opinion. We talked about everything under the sun and I remember many times sitting together and watching the stars rise high in the skies like a million tiny lanterns. It was my brother who also showed me this song before he left for boot camp. Since then we've both grown up and moved to different states but I think of those nights often when I'm up late.
Here's to
starry skies and memories of long nights... to loved ones who were willing to sit with us in both the cover of darkness and in the beauty of light.
Thank you as always for listening to my ramblings...
xx

A jar of biscuits on the table was just too tempting! Bella wouldn’t eat my biscuits, but she wanted to know what I was doing so sat under the glass table to watch.

December 2024: The Common Green Magpie, my nemesis bird, finally seen and photographed. It is absolutely stunning and is described aptly by eBird: A neon-colored, noisy, highly social bird of lowland and mid-altitude subtropical forests. Surprisingly difficult to spot as it glides from tree to tree in the middle and upper levels of the forest. Memorable if seen well: bright green with chestnut-tipped wings, a black mask, and a coral-red bill - Sattal, Uttarakhand, India 🇮🇳
For those who don’t chase birds A “nemesis bird” is known as follows : “it keeps you going back and remains tantalizingly out-of-reach. It's a species that eludes you after multiple attempts, especially if the bird was or should have been there”. I have been chasing this bird on multiple occasions on visits to Thailand…now I need to find a new nemesis bird!
