Scandinavian Airlines have always had some of the most simplistic liveries... The current livery dating from 1998 which was designed by SthlmLab is certainly different compared to the vast array of Eurowhite present across most airlines, the livery consists of a warm grey fuselage, the vertical stabilisers and winglets are dark blue, and the engines featuring a warm red plus white by the thrust reversers.

After 21 years, SAS introduced their new livery in September 2019 which was long rumoured during the year... The new livery is very Scandinavian, minimalistic! The warm grey has been ditched in favour of silver for the main fuselage, the engines lose their warm red colours in favour of silver with the crowns in navy blue, the vertical stabilisers blue tail now extends to the rear of the fuselage, Scandinavian titles adorning the underbelly; and finally the bandit mask will be standard on new aircraft deliveries.

The new livery has since appeared on one of their Airbus A320neos, Airbus A350-900s and more recently an ATR 72.

The 1998 livery will probably won't be missed, it was neither bad or memorable; the new livery in comparison is fresh and modern reflecting Scandinavia's simplicity.

Currently, Scandinavian Airlines operates 53 Airbus A320 family aircraft, which includes 4 Airbus A319s, 11 Airbus A320ceos, 30 Airbus A320neos (9 operated by Scandinavian Airlines Ireland) and 8 Airbus A321s. Scandinavian Airlines have 50 Airbus A320neos and 3 Airbus A321neoLRs on-order.

Sierra India Echo is one of 30 Airbus A320neos in service with Scandinavian Airlines (one of 9 with Scandinavian Airlines Ireland), delivered new to the flag-carrier on lease from JSA on 1st February 2018 and she is powered by 2 CFM International LEAP-1A26 engines.

So far I like the new painting of SAS very much. On the A320neo it looks elegant, not too intrusive. Well done!
