A 20 inch conveyor adds another 1000 bushels to the mountain of approx 75,000 bushels of corn rising from the ground at D&M Community Grain L.C. in Zabcikville, Texas Fri Aug. 1, 2008. "All three of our storage bins are already full." says Daniel Meyer, manager."We never started harvesting this early in the year before. We usually start July 15th, but we had farms wanting us to take it as early as July 4th this year because of the dry weather. They want to get it off the stalks and into storage as soon as possible, a big wind or rain at this time could have wiped out an entire crop, flattening a field or damaging the crop." he adds. Wind storms can break the corn laden stalks, making it impossible to harvest, while rain can promote growth of mold rendering the crop useless.
Jimmy Meyer, of Meyer Farms in Westphalia, Texas says. "They always say, if you got a Juneteenth rain you'd be set. We didn't get it, but if we did, it would have been a bumper year"
I actually won a lotto permit for the wave out of over 70 people. Took me two tries though. I found a bone prop on the hike there.
The sunset light has made the whole beach come alive with orange glows, and on a Winter's afternoon walk made a great afternoon.
We made the short hike which includes a slickrock ascent, to the Sand Caves near Kenab, Utah. The caves were created in the 1970s by sand miners to make glass. The caves are now a popular tourist attraction. Near a highway, they receive a lot of visitors. Many of them have chiseled graffiti in the sandstone.

A Look at the sand dunes at Black Rock Sands Beach, Morfa Bychan, on a lovely January late afternoon walk, with Hef.
This is Bribie Island, one of three sand Islands in Moreton Bay, this particular one is connected to the mainland by road bridge, it is 45 mins north of Brisbane - Queensland - Australia.
The Glass House Mountains can be seen in the distance.

A shot from the Great Sand Dunes National Park in Colorado. We went there in 2019 and only had a few hours to spend there. I would love to go back one day and spend more time. It's a really cool place.
At the Olympic Beach Volleyball venue (Chaoyang Park) at the Beijing Olympics, they had these women dance in between sets and at timeouts.
USG 111 makes an afternoon run from the United States Gypsum wallboard plant in Plaster City out to the quarry 27 miles East of town with limestone empties and a load of water. The USG Railway is America's last operating narrow gauge freight railway, operating on a three foot gauge and rostering a pair of MLW/Bombardier DL-535EWs.

'THE MYSTERY OF THE BLACK HOLE.'
An old bridge spans a local canal and its slapdash brickwork construction offers a few nesting holes that are readily occupied by Sand Martins each year.
This image shows an adult bird standing in a nesting hole just seconds before flying. Later the bird returned with its mate and they both clung to the brickwork and peered into the darkness.
At first, I thought they were investigating a possible nest site. However, after enlarging this image I noticed some nesting material. Perhaps breeding activity was already underway. At what stage though, has to remain a mystery! Birds came and went a number of times but were never seen carrying anything in their beaks.
