Makes me smile as in the distance you can see an English bull terrier-she was called Daisy and was very stubborn!!! You can see she is just standing as if to say 'bugger off i'll come when i'm good and ready!'

The pattern created by the wind and water caught my eye.

Rivulets of sand created by outgoing tide on a beach in Del Haven, New Jersey.

The sand dunes offer unending variations of color shades and formations.

"Photography, as we all know, is not real at all. It is an illusion of reality with which we create our own private world."

“As people, we love pattern. But interrupted pattern is more interesting.” - Jay Maisel

We have had several days of blue skies and warm afternoon light, so we did a lot of walking on the beach. With no snow, we saw many patterns in the sand. I took my time to look for something interesting while soaking up the sun. Now we are under another winter storm warning. It is a good time to sit at the computer again and share some of my beach scenes. Even our weather is going through a series of interrupted patterns this winter.

Different perspective.

Summer is coming, the sea is waiting.

After exams week, I need holidays!.

Thank you in advance for your interest and comments on my photos. That ‘s much appreciated.

Just sand and wind. But lot of details. Nothing more.

It's easy to lose one's sense of time when the weather and landscape merge into one never-ending expanse of white. Last year at this time, I visited some sand dunes that I visit every few years or so. Sometimes they are inaccessible due to muddy road conditions or the sand has blown the dunes across the road beyond what my vehicle has the capacity to power through. So I decided to visit them through digging through my archives and wandering around in their amazing formations and natural undulations.

On my walk about in downtown the art corner was setting up outside at the Succulent Shop, bowls of charcoal, bottles of sand , and other mixed media for expressing yourself....I expressed the purple sand for Flickr Friday's Purple Theme.

We went to Kniepsand, a sandbank offshore Amrum, which has connected to the island over time. Here you will find a unique landscape, consisting only of sand and beach grass. The vastness is impressive, it's like being in another world.

“In every outthrust headland, in every curving beach, in every grain of sand there is the story of the earth.”

― Rachel Carson

The sand is an elemental substance of beauty and transcendence. Ever moving within the realms of wind and fire of sunlight... What a wondrous earth we live on...

#Nationalpark Maasduinen

Deadvlei, Sossusvlei, Namib-Naukluft National Park, Namibia

This photograph features one of the dunes which snake along the edge of the Deadvlei pan in Namibia. The Sossusvlei region is one of the sunniest places on earth and temperatures in January reach in excess of 40c. The heat is so extreme that visits to the area are made at dawn, which provides the best lighting conditions. The colours change quickly; from red to orange to yellow depending on the light and the hour.
