Friendship Sage - Salvia 'Amistad' has masses of beautiful spikes of violet flowers on near black stems from early summer to mid fall. The flowers are slightly “furry” on the outer surface. Hummingbirds, bees, and butterflies love this plant.

Sage Thrasher singing on Bennett Mountain Road near Mountain Home.
"This smallest of the thrashers is a widespread denizen of the West’s vast sagebrush steppe. Sage Thrashers are furtive creatures that hunt for insects beneath a protective sagebrush canopy. In spring the males sing seemingly endless cascades of song from tall perches."
An uncommon visitor to southern Ontario, this western based Sage Thrasher stayed deep in the cover and only popped out briefly. It was feeding on the rosehips tangled among the brush and undergrowth. A treat to enjoy this lifer find.

The plant is a Mexican sage and it's one of the few plants (apart from the catnip) which Cleo seems to like. Occasionally I even see her admiring the flowers ... :)

Salvia yangii (Russian Sage, previously known as Perovskia atriplicifolia) is a flowering perennial plant in the mint family, native to western Asia and eastern Europe.

Cherry sage is the common name for Salvia microphilla, Salvia greggii, and Salvia х jamensis (a hybrid between S. microphilla and S. greggii).
It's a pretty herb and one that has medicinal purposes. Its essential oil is also used in perfumes and as a flavouring for vermouths, wines and liqueurs. Clary sage also attracts pollinators such as hummingbirds and butterflies so I'd say this is is an all-around winner.
