Last night I baked this 'Rustic Pizza' pie from Nigella Lawson's book How to Be a Domestic Goddess - it's delicious, and quite possible the closest I've ever gotten something to how it looked in the cookbook.

A rustic accent to a local farm, no longer in use but an interesting visual attraction to the farm-oriented landscape. Again, caught only one usable image as we passed through the countryside.
Note the blur of the raindrops clearly seen near the top of the image.
Just outside the town of Vila Real in Portugal is the beautiful holiday place named Casa Agricola da Levada... I cannot say too much about the beauty of the surroundings, the excellent standard of the restoration of the village houses which made up the holiday villas, the warmth of our hosts... It was a secluded, beautifully landscaped former village with the manor house in use as a B&B and several former village dwellings as villas for rental... There was an honour system for purchasing food such as fresh bread, wine, fruit & cheese & a lovely, relaxed atmosphere... The lady who ran the place was wonderful & so friendly - I felt like I had found a home in Portugal... The swimming pool was very welcome with the heat of summer - I mean actual heat, not the muggy warmth of a UK summer - but temperatures in the 30s!! Blissful comfort combined with historical context! Perfection!
This piece sits beside the fireplace in a rental cottage near Alliston, Ontario. There were several quirky pieces of art about. The blue eyes were especially penetrating by firelight and my nieces were both of the opinion that it was extremely creepy. I fully expect that if I had spent the night I would have woken in the night several times to discover that it had changed position. :)
