Rusting is a good example of a slow oxidation reaction. In rusting Iron (the reductant) gets oxidised by oxygen (the oxidant) in the presence of water. This reaction is accelerated by the presence of electrolytes (salt).

I first saw Rusted Root play at the Boat House in Norfolk, VA, one of my favorite small venues. I later saw them in Richmond, Virginia, and then at the House of Blues in Myrtle Beach, and now twice at the Lincoln Theatre in Raleigh.
They play an eclectic blend of world inspired Rock that is heavy on percussion and non-traditional instruments. Their music is frenetic and entrancing and just a whole lot of fun with power and raw emotion thrown in for good measure.
Each of their independent acts is worth catching, but together they are an amazing band.
