Rust Manor, London County, VA

I have no idea what kind of car this is.

Day 44/365.

More or less the same set up as this photo.

Water plus iron plus oxygen plus time minus routine maintenance equals the basement sink run-off drain is ruined. The pipe in question literally crumbled in my hands during removal, as if the plumbing in our home were a material more akin to crackers than to iron.

Rust and chipping paint.

Having read an article on Krown rust treatment in Classics Monthly recently and then read good customer reviews online we decided to book in here. Krown is a Canadian product which protects vehicles from rust and inhibits what's there already. The Canadian military use it.

Rust. Etat du Burgenland. Neusiedlersee.

I didnt know which way I liked this picture better so I added both. I like the repetition in this one :)

An old rusty freight door decaying away.

in and around the ground of kirklinton hall, an empty husk of a stately home from the 1600's. a great location and I was privileged to meet the current ownner who plans to restore it to its former glory.

I hope these four look thematically good together and work as a teaser for the shots of the hall to follow.

I saw this rust on a power box and just knew I could find a suitable quote.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAUUUUUUUUGH IT'S THE WORST MONSTER EVER!

Rust Monsters have existed since the beginning of D&D, and they have only one purpose: Punishing players and making them cry. See, Rust Monsters instantly rust any metal they touch, which they then eat. Thus, dropping one on the heroic party means that they will soon lose their hard-won equipment.

:-(

>:-(

Anyway, they are actually patterned after one of those generic "Chinasaurs," and the original first edition art looked identical to the cheap knockoff dino toy. Odd, eh?

I tested the rust antiquing set on different brands of clay to see if any particular brand worked best. I didn't see any significant difference. Here are the results, from photo top to bottom (left column used 1 coat of metallic paint; right column used 2 coats)

As you can see, it didn't really matter what color clay I used. (At least until I sanded off the finish -- see that here.)
