We need more pie and mash shops. Delicious with the liquor (a runny green pea sauce). I'd give the jellied eels a wide berth though.

I'm celebrating a negative test after having Covid a second time. Here's the silly poem I wrote while I was sick last week and trying not to be angry and depressed about it.

(Silly poems can save your soul!)

*****************************

Love in the Time of Covid

I wouldn’t want to get Covid from anyone else but you!

Not the man in his 40s with the red tracksuit

Barely coughing into his hand

The young jogger in the moonlight with the runny nose

The girl with the braids walking her cute corgi

Constantly complaining of a sore throat.

I wouldn’t want to get it from

The tired rushing waiter

Who can’t take a day off work

He’d wear a mask but he’d get less tips

Or the screaming toddler

Giving it freely to all his friends at daycare

No infection from the Trump supporter

Who early on drank bleach

Or the anti-vax hippie from California

Not from the weary traveler

Lying across two seats on the bus

The librarian so exhausted she falls

Asleep on an open book

Or the businessman who insists

“Time is Money” and “It’s only just a cold."

Kids with their “Cooties” shots

Laughing in each other’s faces on the way to recess

Priests who insist on hugging everyone

In order to “Pass the Peace"

I don’t want to test positive because of the

older woman at the movie theater who left her hanky behind

Or partying sorority girls who

Will “only live once"

Please don’t let me get sick because of the

Prick stocking produce at the grocery store

Who keeps sneezing on the vegetables or

The myopic cashier who demands

“Why wear a mask? Covid is over?"

Not a light or a dark red line

because of The CDC worker who thinks throwing

large indoor parties is just fine

None of the guests will test

I wouldn’t want to get it because of the

The tired teacher who took

An expired rapid test the school gave her

Or the dental hygienist with “brain fog"

Requesting for me to open my mouth wide

I’m saying no to Covid coming from

The pimply teenager at Target

Who thinks his illness is just weather changes

Or the hospital cleaner without healthcare

Stripping all the dirty bedsheets of former patients

Everywhere I look, I see illness.

Everywhere I listen, I hear people coughing.

Everything I taste…well, I can’t taste anything anymore.

Covid is over except everyone has it.

But I wouldn’t want to get it

From anyone else but you.

Now, come over here

And kiss me.

the first steamed egg was removed after 10 minutes from the water being boiled from cold - would have taken less time if i'd used less water - noted for next time - i've since read an inch depth of water is enough, i had far more than that!

Usually Pollux is a very mild cat and always tries to avoid fights, in fact whenever there is a cat fight, instead of getting involved he runs home and wants to get inside; he actually never got into a real fight until two days ago when he came home covered in scars and with a very runny eye (he got scratched right on the lid) - now he's improving but his eye still looks a bit funny :P We're planning a trip to the vet if it seems to get worse.

A swan on Lurgan Park lake. Shot at f5.0 with the 70-200 2.8IS lens on the 5D MK iv. A heavy lens but it is quite sharp stopped down a little.

Okay, my mind works in mysterious ways. When I went through my photos of the day, this one brought up images of perfectly cut toast ready for dipping into ooey, gooey, runny, soft boiled eggs. Otherwise, it would have been boringly entitled, "Fence."

Two nostrils worth of runny nose today :-)

“I think it is either becoming colder or the man has turned down the heating again.” Said Bertie as he sat with his friends.

“I noticed that as well, Bertie. I think it might be the man as I discovered something else strange earlier today.” Said Sky.

“Really, Sky, what did you discover?” Asked Barnaby and Bertie together.

“Well, someone or something, and it is as well that I checked our order, well, they had changed what I ordered.”

“Our honey, Sky? What had it been changed to?” Asked Posh Bear, his ears prickling up.

“Yes, our honey, Posh. You remember when I showed you all that jar of honey the man had got for himself and you kind of helped me out?” He said recalling the embarrassing incident.

“I do, I thought he had a cheek buying honey for himself.” Said Bertie sounding annoyed.

“Well, as we know, he couldn’t even do that right and he ordered some diluted honey that was very runny. Imagine trying to eat runny honey and the mess it would make and the wastage.”

“I try not to, Sky, it was a total disaster when you tried it. We witnessed the mess you got in when you borrowed some from his bottle, it took both Barnaby and me ages to lick you clean again.” Exclaimed Bertie.

“And it gave me a furry tongue!” Exclaimed Barnaby

“Correct, quite so. Squeezing the plastic bottle between one’s paws and aiming for one’s mouth, it is just impossible to hit the target all the time. Well, when I checked on our order it had been changed from what we always have to this runny stuff. I couldn’t believe it at first but I compared the labels and they were the same.”

“I trust you changed it back again, Sky; we don’t want that runny stuff.” Said Posh Bear.

“Don’t worry Posh, I changed it all back again. I also made sure that he hadn’t changed our chocolate, marshmallows and Icecap’s fish and ice. “

“If honey was meant to be runny the buzzy things would make it like that.” Said Bertie.

“Yes, and the buzzy things use glass jars that can be licked totally clean and not some plastic bottle thingy.” Said Barnaby.

“Do you think we should stop the man from ordering his things then, if he can’t get it right?” Asked Barnaby.

They all looked towards Posh Bear for guidance.

“No, I don’t think so. Hoomans are always getting things wrong, they are used to it, and anyway, I doubt he would be much better if he went and took it off the shelf himself.”

“The thing that I have concerns about is that perhaps the shop changed it because they had run out of our honey. I mean, when was the last time you saw a buzzy thing flying about the flowers?” Said Sky.

“When was the last time you saw any flowers, come to think about it?” Added Bertie.

“Now you come to mention it guys, you are right. Sky, the place you get our honey from; see if they also have flowers. If they do, order loads and loads of them so we can put them out for the buzzy things and then there won’t be a shortage of our honey and they won’t dilute it anymore.” Said Posh bear.

“What a great idea Posh, we might even be able to stop the buzzy things taking it away and that would save using all those glass jars. I wish I was as clever as you Posh.” Said Sky looking at his friends who all nodded in agreement.

It's not easy at all.

I thought I could push it away.

But now I think I should let it be the way it belongs to.

I am so busy at school these days. That makes me so sick and tired. But It's just the beginning. Couldn't imagine how I look like after this year.

The weather is now really bad. Cold and wet. It always chooses to rain when I am riding WITHOUT BRINGING THE RAINCOAT ALONG. And the result is my nose has been runny for a month now. At night, it begins to be choked up. Eyes close and mouth opens, I couldn't sleep with that.

I'm gonna take a day off to have my teeth and my silly nose checked. Arghhhh I hate going to see the doctor.

Boy was in a big stink until we discovered this drumming session for kids at the kite festival. Girl's runny nose was forgotten in the hullabaloo

Avec le temps qu'il fait, la goutte au nez est d'actualité !

With the weather, runny nose is topical !

I have a favourite jam flavour and it's called Rosella. I don't know if these grow overseas or are made into jam or anything else but in Australia it is a great favourite. As far as I know, it is not made commercially in big factories but tends to be a home made or cottage industry product that you buy at places like markets, local produce stalls and shops. It has a fruity, slightly tart flavour and often somewhat runny (depends on the jam cook). My Mum used to grow them and make the jam herself. If I remember, certain parts of the maroon coloured flower are removed and then it goes into the melting pot. We found these growing at the Botanic Gardens at Mt. Coot-tha in Brisbane. Sadly they don't make any there, just grow them for use in education programmes.

Here you go, if these are new to you, read about them at this site.

Thank you all so very much for your fantastic support and interest in my Photostream over the last twelve months dear friends!

I hope you find plenty of new material to drive another photo year forward in 2016, after the holidays have driven us to break open the financial reserves in our porcelain piggy banks!

Enjoy!

The perfect food. Scrambled, Fried, Boiled, Poached (runny, please), cooked in cake or made from chocolate.

Of course, the chicken came first. Had the egg come first, it would never have made it to become a chicken to give us more eggs.

A simpler puzzle to solve than what's causing my husband's headaches, it seems.

Part of the Lace Curtain on the side of Pahvant Butte. Millard County, Utah.

Pahvant Butte is a butte formed by a dormant volcano in the west-central portion of Utah. It is located in the Sevier Desert in the Pahvant Valley. This part of Utah was once covered by a huge inland freshwater sea known as Lake Bonneville. Pahvant Butte volcano erupted under the icy waters of the lake causing the hot lava to solidify in the interesting "drip" formations forming the Lace Curtain. Millard County, Utah.

To see more of these interesting formations check out my album.

I have to bisque so that I can make some room to make some more pottery. I don't think I've bisqued in maybe 8 or 9 months. I sort of fell away from pottery for awhile. I'm ready to put the things that I learned in South korea to good use.

I wanted to fire 2 levels of bottles, however I used 2 extra pounds of clay on these bottles and they are too big to get 2 levels in the kiln. So, I will fire a bunch of firing trays. I don't use kiln wash, so if I fire any runny glazes, I use a tray to catch the glaze.

I'm reduced to taking pictures of my food it seems!! LOL Actually this was taken for the group 52Frames (a group outside of Flickr). The challenge put out by that group this past week was "food" and this was how I answered the challenge.

I want to take time to thank all my well wishers these past few days and assure everyone that I am now almost totally recovered. This covid was so mild, if it weren't for intuition I don't think I would ever have bothered getting tested because it was so similar to a bad cold. Much easier than the last covid episode in 2021! Have a wonderful day everyone. Today babysitting the grandbaby resumes and I can't wait to see her little face again! :D

Same Holly image with no crop and painted up on the iPad in the new app Waterlogue.

For this image I painted it twice in Waterlogue and then layered them together with a blend mode. This add a bit more structure to the berries but still kept them a bit runny.

one of those shots that looks great, then you view it full screen and seen a snot trail running from one nostril.

she has had a runny nose now for 2 months... getting pretty tired of it!

On a long journey to metropolis 1 I stopped off and picked some beans. They look a bit frightening but with a little garlic and oil they saute up very well in a few minutes. A bit gassy maybe but very tasty with a thai chicken dish.

Single lenless exposure of fluids. Not as sharp as I would like but it was runny and moving by diffussion as shots were taken.

I watch the birds fly south. Sometimes I wish I could do the same.

It's winter up here in Canada. It's kind of nice to see the snow, but this also means runny noses and cold models..

I was driving around in the area I live and I saw this field full of geese, at least a couple hundred all gathered together. It was really cool, so I decided I had to take a photo of it. I found these ancient binoculars in the library of my house and a picture kind of just popped into my head. So I called up Josie and off we went!

Carrot Cake recipe

Ingredients

175gr6oz sunflower oil

175g/6oz light muscovado sugar

100g/3oz sultanas

175g /6oz self raising flour

5ml/1tsp bicarb of soda

5ml/1tsp ground allspice

40g/1oz walnut pieces

3 beaten eggs

175g/6oz grated carrot

finely grated orange rind

200g /7oz soft cheese

55g/2oz sifted icing sugar

(15ml /1tbsp orange juice)

Method

1 Preheat oven 180°C, 450°F Reg 4.

2 Beat together the oil, sugar and eggs.

3 Stir in the grated carrots, rind, sultanas and walnuts.

4 Sift together flour, spice and bicarb and stir into mixture.

5 Spoon into 24 bun cases or 11” x 7”greased and lined baking tray.

6 Bake approx 45 mins until firm and golden brown.

7 For the topping drain cheese then beat together soft cheese, icing sugar (and orange juice if necessary) until smooth.

8 Spread topping on cooled cake.

NB

Philly is fine but do not use low-cal types as it goes too runny. Check consistency of topping carefully, only add juice if mixture is too stiff to spread.

29 July 2021: As reported yesterday a small number of people are still getting infected with the coronavirus even after being vaccinated, the symptoms they report differ from those for non-vaccinated people. The few people that are fully vaccinated and are not asymptomatic report following complaints: headaches, a runny nose, sneezing, sore throat, and a loss of smell. Not only fever, but also a persistent cough has disappeared from the list. The loss of smell – which was also a well-known symptom of the original strain of the virus – reappeared. The findings come from a large-scale study conducted by the King’s College London University in collaboration with health science company ZOE, based on data from more than four million people who use ZOE’s COVID Symptom Study app worldwide. The researchers pointed out that although vaccinated patients show fewer (severe) symptoms and get better faster, and that there are virtually no people in hospitals who have been vaccinated you better have a corona test done as soon as you suddenly start sneezing for no apparent reason. Meanwhile, the number of infections in Belgium is still up albeit at a slower pace. Between 19 and 25 July, an average of 1,472 new coronavirus infections were detected per day, a 8% increase from the average of the previous week. On display today is another picture of our Normandy trip. It’s an early morning view of the remains of the harbor that was constructed in 1944, just a couple of days after D-Day – Arromanches, Normandy, France.

Popping her head around the door, grinning from ear to ear. Why? Toy in one hand...My mobile in the other!!!!. Once she was sure I'd noticed her, she was off back the way she'd come, squealing and giggling. It's fun teasing Grandad! Please excuse dribbles, and encrusted runny nose. They go with the territory.
