... Orange meringue pie.
I had another go at my orange meringue pie this afternoon and this time it worked. Or almost, as it was still a bit too runny.
Most importantly the Moulinex didn't play up and did a magnificent job of blitzing the orange and other ingredients, without a glitch.

We were a bit piggy, as I served it up with whipped cream and there's plenty left for a second helping of pie and cream for tomorrow evening.

Better viewed large and thank you for your favourites.
1. Take a small fry pan, egg, salt, pepper and chopped up cheese plus a little olive oil.
2. Heat pan, add oil and when hot break egg into it.
3. Fry for awhile then break yolk gently and sprinkle the cheese over it.
4. When frying, grind the coarse black pepper over it and sprinkle a little salt.
5. Cook for how long you want as time alters the runniness of the yolk and the degree of ‘cheese-melt’.
6. Slide onto small plate when done and enjoy it, maybe with bread or a crisp roll.

woke this morning to matea needing to go out ... more runny stool ... and a second outting produced gel and blood ... back into the house to clean up more vomit.
been feeding small meals as directed by the vet, in fact, today was the day we were supposed to start back to normal meals. guess that's not happening.
$1600 in bills so far and no answer in sight.
i'm at a loss.
i'm drained.
i'd cry except i still have the same migraine from wednesday and crying always makes it worse.
besides, now i've got cat diarrhea to clean up ...

My 8 years old daughter has to self-isolate at home this week due to a fever with a runny nose. Her nasal swab test came back negative yesterday. She jubilantly announced her relief. I decided to take a half-day off from work today and take her to the Waterstone in Ocean terminal and stock up her holiday reading list. When we drove along the Water of Leith, she asked if the Water of Leith is the same as the water of Lethe (one of the five rivers of the underworld of Hades: the river of forgetfulness). Interesting question. I found below in the Wikipedia: Leith derived from lejth meaning 'damp, moist'. The word lethe means "oblivion", "forgetfulness", or "concealment" in classic greek.

Peter Wood, he's a lovely jolly chap and award winning bee keeper. We buy honey from him regularly and here it is going onto toasted home made bread.
The blob was actually being drizzled from a very small teaspoon (not the way I normally do it) and had spread to about half an inch at this point, so there is about an inch and half of toast here. I mean there was more toast there obviously, just not visible in the picture. Only an inch and a half of toast would be no real use to anybody... well apart from the cat. He does like toast, though it's strictly rationed and he isn't allowed the honey.

My perfect egg has no runny whites and a yolk that is on the brink of setting, but hasn't yet. A pinch of flakey sea salt, a few cranks of the pepper mill, a small silver spoon, and a chipped porcelain egg cup. That's all I need.
Have a timer set for six minutes but do not start it. Fill a small but deep-sided saucepan with about four inches of water. Bring it to a boil then lower the heat so that the water simmers gently. Lower in the egg. Start the timer. After six minutes remove the egg and run it under a cold tap for 15 second. Place in an egg cup and slice off the top third. Season with salt and pepper.
