Macro Mondays - theme of February 6, 2023: Made of Metal
This scene somehow reminds me of the epic science fiction 'Dune' by Frank Herbert (I loved the novels)
But it's actually the serrated blade of a bread knife - taken in the kitchen in front of our red kettle (also made of metal) and illuminated with a warm light

HMM everyone !
I've got a heavily runny nose, so I might not be able to comment a lot this evening; but I will try to catch up
This is a common weekend breakfast at our home. Poached egg on bacon avocado toast with lemon pepper. Very tasty and hard to beat.
(Full disclosure: I accidentally over-cooked this egg, normally the yoke is runny… but it was still tasty!)

What ever your interests are, snow puts a different view on offer, i see real beauty, imagination and breath taking scenes on Flickr, what ever the weather, but snow in what ever circumstance opens up opportunities.
I am constantly drawn to my squinted and conjoined images, hardly original, but fascinating to me,
The conditions take us outside even though comfort lies indoors, no one wants a runny nose, chapped skin, and chill to the bone, yet we do it any way, all these opposites attract us, and opposite views attract me, geometry, shape and form all draw me in.
Is romance and seduction....
(It may be a little runny and hot for the pastries.....)

I knew if I held on this image long enough, I would be able to use it..;)
I official have a summer cold. I can't believe it, I've never had a summer cold. I must have picked it up when I went to my Veteran's clinic. That place is like walking through a petri dish. Anyway, I think the worst is over. The sore throat is gone. I no longer fill like I'm in fog bank. I do still have the annoying runny nose, but it's not as bad as it was. So, hopefully, it will have run it course by Monday. Just hanging around the house is driving me crazy
Had some fun with putting some honey in the freezer for an hour or so (to slow down it's runniness) so I could then catch it's slower movement from a small syringe with the Olloclip macro @ 7x, Manfrotto Tripod, Hisy remote.....then well and truly toasted with butter in Snapseed on iPad Pro.
I thought I would like to combine sweet AND savoury and bought sweet things which I was sure I could combine with something suitable from the kitchen. Then, this lunch time, I peeled a hard boiled egg and thought I could fill something sweet into the space left by the yolk. So I used agave syrup. Took the picture and went out. When I looked later on, I thought "what was the point of that? It just looks like a runny yolk!". Still, don't have time (nor more eggs) to start again ;) Now I have to eat the sweets I bought - it's a hard life!
Just love a bubble bath, so relaxing!
The 5 minute rule for boiling an egg is just right for a dippy egg with toast soldiers. Firm white with a runny yolk, yum!!
Macro mondays - theme, Rule.
HMM everyone :))
The Varied Thrush is a very secretive bird. We hear them all the times when we go for walks in the woods but what a treat every time I see that gorgeous bird up close. This time I discovered we have a few points in commun. In snowy weather, we get cold feet very quickly ... and perhaps a runny nose too :)
I work at school with a population of more than two and a half thousand students and teachers for many years. When the SARs started, there was one room that was yearly closed down due to seasonal flu. Of course, blame it to the dormant virus that strikes during the rainy season where a lot children get sick. A virus doesn’t die, it just becomes dormant and each virus is triggered by something. Yearly, this room is always shut down for a week or two as almost three-quarters of the class get sick. No amount of disinfectant and domestos can kill whatever virus that sticks on the wall, floor, tables and stuff inside the classroom.
When the face mask wasn’t mandated yet, I remember teaching a class one morning. We were doing book activity and went around to check their work and gave them a timely feedback whilst doing their numbers. As I stopped on one of the girls, she sneezed so hard on her book. Surely, saliva spray came out in such a fine mist, which most of the time, it’s not even visible to the human eye. Later after the class, I collected the books and marked them. Just one abrupt cough with respiratory droplets…..I called in sick the next day with high temperature, runny nose, flu and phlegm. This is how virus is being transmitted from one person to the next….from school to home, home to school then everywhere. It is a viscious cycle of infection. This happened for many years before even COVID and its variants were exposed.
Without a doubt, some will disagree with wearing a mask. But I will keep wearing it all the time. Our community won’t heal and recover if we don’t cooperate. When you wear a mask, it will block the germs that come out of your mouth and nose whenever you talk, laugh, sing, cough, sneeze and breathe. This also means that if you don’t know that you have COVID-19, you’ll help prevent others from getting it. Mask won’t protect us completely but it will help you protect getting sick in the first place. So contain it contain it contain it.
You might be far away from us due to the pandemic.... but you are never alone. Merry Christmas my Flick friends!
I put a a little bit of runny Lard/ground peanut mix on the pine needles. The other birds do pick at it but there are always Goldcrest sized bits left behind.
I know you're feeling it....the craziness that goes with the season. Concerts, pageants, rehearsals, parties, and somehow Santa is supposed to be prepared too. (I may be looking for a Christmas miracle on that last one.) It feels like everything and everyone is moving at full speed.
So with a little encouragement, I got up Saturday morning and I took some time to slow down. (NOT my forte!) I left the house shortly after 6:00 and went to Cape Spear. It was here I waited and watched the sun rise at the most easterly point in North America. -9 degrees, windy, and cold but with runny nose and all, it still felt perfect. So it is these good vibes I'm taking into the busy week ahead and sending out all the extra good feels to all those that need them!
Happy new day all!
So many places, so many people, so many months and all it took was a cup of coffee and a runny nose.
Uncomfortable it might have been, but how would I cope knowing that I made someone sick?
Lucky for me, 8 days of the flu is just the flu. ♥

I literally ran down the street with my camera today. It was cold. So cold! Even with my cozy little hat the cold got in!!! My hands hurt to even to remove the lens cap. The settings didn't change much because my fingers weren't working but I had fun and found some windows. Colourful ones never disappoint. Totally worth the runny nose. :-) Happy Wednesday!

Founded in 1772 as a Danish whaling and sealing settlement, Upernavik (or Avannaata) located on an island in Baffin Bay, Western Greenland has a population of a thousand or so and acts as a hub for numerous smaller nearby settlements. Much of the year it is surrounded by sea ice. A Runnic inscription dated to around 1300 was found outside the town indicating that it was at the northern limit of Norse exploration in Greenland.
Suggest you zoom in.
When you walk from the Herzsee to Alpe Melköde you enter a "Pflanzenschutzgebiet", an area where plants are protected, meaning it's forbidden to damage plants and pick flowers. So I captured every plant that looked special to me. This one turns out to be "Round-leaved wintergreen", not that rare in wooded and wet areas, but I hadn't seen it before. Raindrops seem to give some flowers 'a runny nose'.
Ok, it's pond water, but it does remind me of a bank customer we used to see daily when I worked in Silsden in the late nineties. Regardless of the time of year the old chap used to come into the bank and he always had a runny nose with a drop at the end waiting to be wiped. Of course he became known as “Dewdrop”.
Turning to the Mandarin Duck this was a first for me at Newmillerdam.
Havng been born and grown up in the village I have spent a great deal of time down by the lake. Over the years the amount of birdlife has decreased a little but the variety has no doubt improved. A fine example of this change was in January when I came across my first Mandarin Duck on the lake.

Wouldn't it be great to share your name with one of natures beautiful creatures, well luckily, I do. Although my beautiful creature is a fly!

So called because it usually emerges on St Marks day, 25th April. The ones I saw today obviously forgot it's a Leap year.
See I also share my name with a Saint! That's about as close as it is likely to get though!
Final rambling for today, and this is awful!

Head throbbing, dry throat, runny nose and irritated sensations. The air growing cold around her as she exited the building, her already pale cheeks started warming up to the icy weather. Suddenly, the irritation was tolerable, especially after feeling a sneaky snowflake landing over her nose. Oh how she wished the weather would always be this chilly. How easy it was to melt away all work's troubles.
Now, this weather would be purrfect once she gets home. Her first mission was to burry her face into comfortable gray furrs, perhaps she would be able to steal a few nose kisses, because if you do not try to kiss cats' nose, then what the hell are you doing with your life?!
P.S. The BunBuns (Lya and Adam) did an amazing small but big in heart type of cozy winter street with so much details! A lot of cute surprises that I enjoyed discovering. I was so inspired in that moment that I snapped this little shot. Snow Whisper City! If only they had more prims, I'd need a month to learn every corner.

"Well," said Pooh, "what I like best," and then he had to stop and think. Because although eating honey was a very good thing to do, there was a moment just before you began to eat it which was better than when you were, but he didn't know what it was called.”
― A.A. Milne, Winnie-the-Pooh, The House at Pooh Corner.
"That buzzing noise means something. Now, the only reason for making a buzzing noise that I know of is because you are... a bee! And the only reason for being a bee is to make honey. And the only reason for making honey is so I can eat it," – Winnie the Pooh
The theme for "Looking Close on Friday" the 5th of September is "let it flow!",so a picture of a flowing liquid. The day I read the new theme, it was a sunny morning, and I immediately knew what flowing liquid I wanted to photograph. Whilst it is true that jam is my favourite topping for toast, I am not at all adverse to having honey. Thus I have a few jars in my pantry, and this jar of Parrot Bush honey, whilst slightly crystalised, was runny enough to constitute a flowing liquid. The good thing about honey is that it is not that swiftly flowing a liquid, which is good for me, as I am not the fastest photographer in the world! I stood the jar in a pool of bright morning sunshine on my draining board in my kitchen, where they honey was transformed into a glorious coppery red gold colour. Sometimes the simplest ideas are the most effective. I hope you like my choice for the theme this week, and that it makes you smile!
Banksia sessilis, commonly known as parrot bush, is a species of shrub or tree in the plant genus Banksia, and is an Australian native species of flora.
when I'm not at my best physical and mental, is my comfort but then "hello calories".
I was not allergic but you have to start somewhere, so here I am today with allergic rhinitis (runny nose, itchy eyes, sneezing, itchy throat and palate) a unpleasant time to go
