While I was out in Arizona on a non-train related vacation, I saw a Facebook post about the Grand Canyon Railway releasing an F40PH painted to celebrate the 250th year of the United States of America. As luck would have it, the innaugural run of it would line up perfectly with our drive home. Here it is departing Williams, AZ, heading to the Grand Canyon.

Throwing in a few random pics from a day trip to the coast - taken with my iPhone and edited using the Photoshop app - picture quality is very good from a mobile phone.
This mink was going for a run on this fourth day of spring. There was still lots of thin ice on Costello Creek in Algonquin Park to keep him above water. I wish I was as confident and capable walking on the ice! There was lots of it on the streets in the Ottawa region.
The swift waters of Falls Creek make a determined run for the Columbia River Gorge and the Pacific after a series of wet spring days, Gifford Pinchot National Forest, Washington.
We ascended the creek seeking the storied Falls Creek Falls (which are oh-so-imaginatively named), and along the way I encountered several perspectives of the moss-lined riparian zone that glowed in afternoon light. Part of the purpose of the trip to the Pacific Northwest was to visit a few colleges and universities with my oldest son. Now, in a few months time he will be moving to southern California for an undergraduate education. What flies faster, water or time?
Technical notes: Hand-held with knee tripod, deep breathing.
They are an old prehistoric animal form the Ice age. However they have disappeared from most of there range. They are hunted still in Alaska. But there population have declined because of multiple reasons the common denominator being humans.

IRMX 231 makes its debut run as it passes by the set of CPLs on the IRM main line. 231, along with 6976 (which was powering 231), were both donated by the Nevada State Railroad Museum and arrived at the museum grounds less than a week prior to this. 231 sports a concept Amtrak Phase III Operation Lifesaver paint scheme as seen on the nose.

Not part of my Ohio waterfall series; I shot this Pittsburgh area waterfall yesterday.
I need to set an hour or two aside for editing the Ohio photos to get them published.
During the Ohio shoot last week, I noticed that my 4-stop ND filter was still too bright while my 10-stop was way too dark, so I ordered a 6-stop. This was the first time I shot with a 6-stop. If you are thinking of getting an ND filter, 6 is the perfect choice for falls.
Tripod. Not cropped. Not HDR. Zoom in for good luck. :)

AMSTERDAM Light Festival - Quizvraag: wat is het wereldrecord verspringen? Run Beyond van Angelo Bonello lokt die vraag uit, want de sprong die de man in dit werk maakt, lijkt onmogelijk ver. Het sleutelwoord daarbij is ‘lijkt’. Want, vindt Bonello, niets is onmogelijk als je het maar graag genoeg wil. Run Beyond is een werk dat gaat over de sprong die we in ons leven allemaal moeten maken: de sprong naar de vrijheid. Welke vrijheid zegt Bonello er niet bij, dat is aan de toeschouwer om uit te maken.
Amsterdam Light Festival - Quiz question: what is the world record long jump? Run Beyond by Angelo Bonello lures that question, because the jump that the man in this work is, seems an impossible distance. The key word here is ' seems '. Because, Bonello, nothing is impossible if you but gladly enough will. Run Beyond is a work that deals with the lead that we all need to make in our lives: the jump to freedom. What freedom says Bonello is not listed, that's up to the Viewer to decide.
