I broke the rules here and took a picture but.. special urban beauty? Really? OK the sign is written quite neatly but..? Taken in central Bristol.

"The slide rule is a mechanical analog computer. The slide rule is used primarily for multiplication and division, and also for functions such as roots, logarithms and trigonometry, but is not normally used for addition or subtraction."

This was my father's when he was a young man, younger than what I am now. He's a mechanical engineer and I found this back home in the Philippines when we came home back in March. My brother has his Ping Pong paddle that is older than both of us and I wanted something as old if not older. So here's his slide rule...and I don't know how to use it...YET. Ha!

Photography Rules!

If you would like to make a rule of your own, please do! Add your Photography Rules to the Photography Rules Group:Photography Rules

12/52 - Breaking the Rules (52 Weeks: The 2015 Edition)

15/100 - Best Nature & Landscapes (100x: The 2015 Edition)

Several rules (some are my own) being broken here:

1. Macro shot hand-held - not on tripod as I usually prefer.

2. Used automatic focus - I prefer manual focus for macros.

3. Camera tilted 45 degrees from horizontal - not a fan of tilted shots!

4. Intentionally saturated background colors way too much using Lightroom - when adjusting colors, I normally try to keep colors as natural as possible.

5. "Normally" when using selective coloring, the flower would be in color and the background would be in black and white.

Despite all this, I like the way this image came out!

For Sliders Sunday, completely in line with the rules!

And be sure to check by my other acount: www.flickr.com/photos_user.gne?path=&nsid=77145939%40..., to see what else I saw last Monday!!

Yes I'm back again.

However due to my main computer on which I edit my work being struck down with a big bad virus, this picture and all the others I am uploading, were Unedited but have now been replaced with Edited versions. So enjoy and Thanks for your patience and understanding.

I do still hate everything about this shit that is new Flickr and always will, but an inability to find another outlet for my work that is as easy for me to use as the Old BETTER Flickr was, has forced me back to Flickr, even though it goes against everything I believe in.

I don't generally have an opinion on my own work, I prefer to leave that to other people and so based on the positive responses to my work from the various friends I had made on Flickr prior to the changes I have decided to upload some more of my work as an experiment and to see what happens.

So make the most of me before they delete my acount: www.flickr.com/photos/69558134@N05/?details=1, to stop me complaining!!

Changed the travel styles a bit this time, different from previous trips. Climbed mountains everyday, average 20km per day, above 800 meters elevation... The scenery on top of the peaks are soooo amazing! Addicted to it... LOL

This was taken near the peak of the Little Arethusa by cell phone, above the tree line - no trees around because less oxygen and harsh weather conditions.

Strong winds, snowing, hailing so hard when we just reached to the top, I put all my clothes and gloves on, my hands were still frozen, had to put on crampons and climbed down, about half hour later, all of sudden, everything stopped, we experienced the surprise of the Mother Nature: Sunshine, frog, light...!

There were just four of us on the whole mountain. We were at the bottom of the mountain just around sunset! That's the rule to climb the mountains - Be back before sunset for safety!!!

I am still at Rocky Mountains, will see you soon my dear Flick friends! ❤️ This is a photo taken by cell phone, no Photoshop editing... (I did not take my laptop with me).

At Brancoveanu Monastery, Sambata de Sus, Romania

The rebuilt "Brâncoveanu" Monastery is located in Sambata de Sus, town situated on Sambata (Saturday) river in Fagaras area, Romania. The history of Brâncoveanu Monastery started in the 17th century, when Preda Brâncoveanu erected a wood church. Constantin Brâncoveanu, the ruler of Wallachia (1688-1714), rebuilt a monastery in stone on the wood church place, around the year 1696 in an attempt to strengthen the unity of Orthodoxy in front of the new Habsburg Catholic rule in Transylvania. Constantin Brâncoveanu founded a school for writers and secretaries, a fresco painting workshop and a small printing house, which transformed the monastery into a strong social, cultural and religious center. Rule of thirds, rule of birds!

This is the lower level of the train station. It was basically desolate down there. People were all waiting on benches in the lobby. I walked in the building and directly down the escalator. No one stopped me and I had the platform to myself. I saw the sign and well HAD to set over the line .But thinking to myself-hmm where is security? No one cared that I was lurking around and going to all point within reason. Even looking under a stopped train. Kind of baffles me. HSS

Have a great sunday all! :)

Always did love the fierce look in photos. I don't know why. Probably because it's so different to how I am in person perhaps.
