A British built, Spanish registered car in Belgium. It's always nice to see a foreign registered Rover abroad. This one looked in good condition.

The planet of Marais VII was famously swampy and boggy. No roads could be built across its surface and so all vehicles had to run on large diameter, balloon tyres. This applied especially to the vehicles involved in the Classic Space swamp gas mining operations.

The government of this poor planet saw an opportunity to raise some revenue and put a tax on all tyres. The amount payable was calculated on an exponential scale from the diameter of the tyre. To counter this exorbitant cost, the Classic Spacemen replaced the balloon tyres on their rovers with multiple, small wheels of a size which was so small as to be exempt from the tax. The example shown here had a mere 64 tyres.

The multi-wheeled wheels became obsolete just 6 months later when the Maraisian government introduced a tax on valve caps.

Year of first registration: 1972.

The 75 was the only new model Rover developed under BMW management. Production started in 1999. This is a facelifted model introduced in 2004. About a year later Rover went bankrupt and the 75 was discontinued. Later the 75 was built in China as Roewe 750. This one has a 2.0 litre turbo-diesel engine.

These two almost identical Rover 214s were a pleasant sight! They were parked in a way to make them easy to photograph. It was almost as if the owner/s were waiting for a car spotter to come along and grab a photo of them! Both had shiny red paint, showing that they are cherished. The G reg one at the front is starting to show signs of lacquer peel, but it is still a good example.

The Range Rover was introduced to the public back in 1970.

Combining the comfort of a Rover Saloon Car with a Land Rover’s tenacity, the early Mid Size SUV came with spacious accommodation for driver and passengers.

The powertrain with a modified Buick 215 V8 engine, Rover’s groundbreaking gearbox and permanent four-wheel drive system on long-travel coil springs made the Range Rover well capable on an off road.

Musée du Louvre exhibited an early model as an „exemplary work of industrial design“. Early models had very basic interiors, Rover’s Saloon Car features like power-steering, carpeted floors, air conditioning, cloth seats and wooden interior trim were fitted in later during production.

Like the real car, the model features a Technic ladder frame chassis on coil spring suspension and rigid axles.

The build is Creator Expert sized, length 39 studs, 14 width, height about 17 studs.

Pretty unexpected, I can't imagine there are a lot of Rovers in the Middle East

In the UK there were countless manufacturers, most of whom do not exist today, where you could buy either an economical or luxury sedan, without much in the middle. King of filling in this gap was Rover, who in 1963 released the P6 – the first car the win the European Car of the Year award.

A rare post facelift example

I'd hoped this one would now be back on the road, but DVLA suggests its been untaxed since 1988. I guess it's possible it could be in a barn somewhere, but scrapped is perhaps more likely. The roof on the garage its sat next to is largely unchanged in the Google image, which is perhaps surprising considering how ramshackle it looks!
