What the TR-23 Rover lacked in manoeuvrability, it made up for with a clear forward view. (Of the tread)

The wind and rain are reducing the leaves into a sloppy mess and the old Rover is starting to look very sad sat under the trees. I suspect it will sit there a while. Perhaps I can photograph it as it is frozen in ice and snow during winter, or as seeds start to sprout out of it next Spring. Let's see.

An additional top view of my Space Rover.

This must have been recently put back on the road as the first MOT is from this year. Only 42k on the clock.

A British General Lee!

Build for my article on New Elementary all about the latest wave of parts added to Pick a Brick this month.

I only had one of each seed part to play with so I went for an asymmetric vehicle using the transparent curved corner panel (5925). It turned out to be a bit of a slog to complete but I got there in the end - thanks to some Lime green frying pans of all things.

Well, here we go again, steaming around planetary surfaces, the notorious steam tech loving Willie haunts the sterile and clean streets with his dirty abomination on wheels. But everyone is in a better mood afeter he pass by or behind the next corner.

I can't find a good description for this one...

So, instead, here's the perfect soundtrack for this Rover :

Smart looking 416 spotted in Peterborough, its only done 523k miles, the 400 series are getting scarce to see now.

A spaceman from the Netherlands, resplendent in his orange spacesuit, drives a rover across the lunar cheese plain. This vehicle was based on the wax skin of a giant edam. The water-tight wax cover enabled the rover to float in the streams of fondue that erupted from nearby volcanoes. Cheese that was mined from this area was the main export back to markets on Earth.

Also in the photo is one of the cats used to deter raiding mice.

I wouldn't have a had a clue as to its registration were it not for the photo I took back in 2011, when it was somewhat less buried by branches.

Still on SORN, and it just scraped onto the MoT database with a failure back in 2005.

A handsome car, presumably on its way to a show somewhere. We were in the Laurel and I'd actually stopped to get a photo of something else parked-up by the road, but seeing this coming the other way my son quickly got this shot (and we got a cheery wave from them in return).

Imaging planetary interiors using seismic pulses was one of the most important tasks before deciding whether the Federation should colonise and terraform a new planet. Shallower resources could be mined, and deeper strata revealed information about the planet's composition and tectonic stability.

Little rover for the 40th anniversary of Classic Space. Old grey of course. Saw Alec Hole use this windscreen arrangement too, but I promise I built this before I saw his lovely Tanker Rover!

Very much in the autumn of its life!

2000 Rover Mini 1275cc V303DPG at Brooklands Classic Car Day on 30th March 2024.

While America has Detroit, Britain has Coventry - its original Motor City. Coventry was an engine room of the automotive revolution, and hosted headquarters and factories from a vast array of companies including Jaguar, Chrysler, Peugeot, Hillman, Riley and Triumph. Today, most are long gone, but its heritage has left it with one of the country’s best motor museums.

The P6 Rover was first shown at the 1963 British Motorshow. Built at Rover’s Solihull factory, this version of the P6 was first made in 1973. This 1974 Rover 2200, GAC 4N, is on display in the Coventry Transport Museum.

"For Queen and Country"

I doubt I've ever seen one of these in real life. The newer models are plentiful on the highways and in the city, but it's the Classic that is the really iconic one, in my opinion.

I've seen very few people attempt this in 6-wide scale, and I found out why. It took me HOURS to come up with a good solution for the nose, but I'm pretty pleased with the result.

Update: 2 days after posting this, I did get to see one in real life. It looked awesome.

I don't drive (never have) and know little or nothing about cars, although I recognize them well enough.

I used to see plenty of these growing up, a P4 of which there were a number of variants (Rover 95, 100, 110 etc.) including a jet powered version, although I never saw one of those.... It was produced between 1949 and 1964, when it was replaced by the altogether more swinging Rover 2000. Rover always had a reputation for innovation...

Rover is an exemplar of the decline and mismanagement of British industry and particularly the motor industry. Rover began making cars in 1904 and also made the Land Rover and Range Rover cars, the latter of which is the template for the Chelsea Tractor, beloved of rich imbeciles. Rover was, allegedly, 'offered' the BMW works after WW2 and wound up being owned by BMW before being sold back to 'management' then bought by a Chinese manufacturer. In between times it was swallowed by Leyland/British Leyland/BMC and variations, eventually becoming the last 'name' of that group (Austin, Triumph. Jaguar, Morris, MG etc) and sold as a badged Honda. Now, only Jaguar and Range Rover survive, neither British owned...oh, well. The 'marque' is owned by Tata (Indian), owners of Jaguar Land Rover: MG cars are now Chinese.

Lovely car, seen near the Port Of London Authority's Denton, Gravesend site.

Another of the cars that was about to head off on a Sunday morning run. The pre-facelift P6 V8s look very subtle.
