I joined the winter warrior challenge #winterwarriornh run or walk every day in January for 1 mile or more outside. It is part of my daily routine (week 4 2019 P52) now. So even on this soggy rainy day (52 in 2019 #6) I got to go out. I always feel good after though. The challenge is just that push I needed. Thinking about keeping it up beyond January, making it a true routine....
I snagged this picture on my iphone to put on my biz instagram (wv_pt for those interested) so the "developing" was done by instagram

Every once in a while, the routine trains should be documented, as much as it pains me to write. I can pretty much guarantee that in twenty years, this photo will not bring much nostalgia for the good old days. But at least it was documented.
Shooting this was warm and frustrating but at the same time very fun. Mom helped me throwing coffee and getting the focus right.
I edited this for the first time ever on a laptop, which may decrease the quality of the edit a little, but I don't think it's too noticeable.
"...A blinding vision..."
-- Vitruvius, De Architectura (On Architecture) VII,5,8
So the paintings of the early Augustan period seemed to Vitruvius, new and unprecedented in their rich and varied subject matter and realized in brilliant and costly colors.
This photo shows two of three frescoed walls of a triclinium (Triclinium C) from the "Villa della Farnesina". In 1879, during excavations for the Tiber embankments, in the garden of the Renaissance Villa Faresina were found "remains of a noble private house of the Augustan period, decorated with the most beautiful wall paintings ever seen in Rome." The find spot was in the Augustan urban district XIV, called "Transtiberina," the modern Trastevere. The district was a center for artisans and ethnic minorities and was the site of many warehouses (horrea) for goods transported by river; but there were also gardens and villas facing the Tiber, such as the well-known gardens of Caesar.
The discovery caused great excitement. At that time wall paintings from the time of Augustus were rare in Rome, only known from the House of Livia on the Palatine; the Palatine complexes of the House of Augustus and the Aula Isiaca were yet to be found. No statues or decorative objects were found in the excavated area, only a few coins and sherds of pottery for household use, which suggests an enforced abandonment of the villa, perhaps because of the routine flooding of the Tiber. In spite of the press of work on the embankments, it was decided to remove all the most important decorations. Paintings, stuccoed decorations, and mosaics were moved to the nearby Botanical Gardens and later 1889) to the Baths of Diocletian, first site of the Museo Nazionale Romano. Drawings and watercolors were made at the time; these lave been invaluable for reconstructing the topography of the area and the plan of the building All the decorations that were removed from the villa, except for a few that have been lost, are on display here in a new arrangement.
In the center of the triclinium (dining room) was a table, with three couches (klinai in Greek - so 'triclinium' literally means 'three couches') on which the diners reclined as they ate. The southern exposure of the room and its main color - black - suggest that it was meant to be used in the winter. The architect Vitruvius, writing in the 1st century CE, recommended a dark background that would absorb heat - and hide the soot of the lamps - to make the rooms warmer in cold weather.
On the dark background delicate landscapes are painted in light colors: cityscapes with buildings, arches, and gateways, and rural scenes showing huts, animals, and rustic shrines. The lavish decoration is broken up by slender columns festooned with ivy. The capitals are crowned by graceful female figures (caryatids). A frieze at eye level has scenes in which the same figures keep reappearing: popular tales depicted in a lively fashion. The scenes of the frieze start with the rear of the right wall. Also on this wall, near the doorway, can be seen a restoration made in antiquity to close off another entrance. We can identify a part of the polychrome mosaic pavement of this room, with meanders and stacked cubes rendered in perspective. The modern arrangement does not reproduce the original, but is intended to suggest the effect of the pavement in the room.

La democracia, seguramente, ha hecho de mi un estúpido.
Pero soy el creador de rutinas."
