A 30-car D&RGW Freight Charter, organized by the Friends of the Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad, has just rounded the apex of the Cumbres Loop and is proceeding up the last two-thirds of a mile toward Cumbres Pass at MP 329.9. With trains this long (and even longer back in the day), it was quite common for the Engineer and Conductor to signal each other as they passed on adjacent tracks, going in opposite directions. The looping section of track just east of Cumbres Pass has had a number of names applied to it over the many years this line has been in place. While it was known to the crews as "Cumbres Loop", or "The Balloon Loop", it has become popularly known in recent times as "Tanglefoot Curve."
This image was captured during an October 2016 photo shoot, organized by the Friends of the Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad. The train is pictured here at Milepost 329.9.
The round chapel to the rightof the altar in the new cathedral at Coventry. Originally called the Chapel of Industry, it is now the Chapel of Christ Servant. The altar and cross were made by apprentices from local industry and students from the city's university - accommodation for which can be seen outside the chapel. The room has fabulous acoustics.

One of the more imposing structures on the Windsor Castle grounds - and it was very much conceived and built for that purpose. It was actually made taller by thirty meters in the 1800's.

The Round Room is home to Jacob Epstein's sculpture of Lucifer. Hard to miss, Lucifer is a striking piece and a fitting entrance to the gallery.

Cannot believe it! Have been eating healthy (heart you Weight Watchers) and always feel full up. This feels too easy to be true but I'm chuffed.
You've never seen THIS moon before, right? This one's all round and .... gray .... and it's got these bumps on it....
Shot this time with a 400/6.3 Spiratone Sharpshooter and a 2x Kenko MC7 teleconverter, on a Canon XTi camera. Handheld, leaning on a porch column, wide open at f/12.6, at 1/160 of a second.... which is about 8 times longer than you should be handholding something like this....
It was not dark out when I took this, the sun was already up and the sky was blue. I set the camera on aperture priority auto with the exposure compensation dialed all the way to the -2 stop limit. I adjusted the tones a little more in postprocessing to darken the mid tones a little bit. No sharpening though, and I left the colors in so you can see how much chromatic aberration the lens/TC combination has in the shot.
