Down goes the American Lumberjack, for winning final round for the Canadian team.It was a great show and these guys were both entertaining and great at their skills! The overall competition was won by the Canadian Team with the most wins per race and skill in the Lumberjack games! A fun time!

I took this last night after a pretty frustrating scenario. I had blue skies at home all day, saw nice clouds roll in at about 2 ish, and thought, I will get down to the beach at Nanven or perhaps Land's End. I drove 1 hour to St.Just only to find black clouds, no sun, no colour or anything! I drove right past the most fantastic cloud formations and just kept thinking it would be as nice if not better down there. Anyway, the end result was that I shot almost entirely in B&W.

The other major problem I had, was that in my excitement to leave in the great weather conditions, I forgot to check the tide time booklet. I ended up at the most amazing beach around, at high tide! Bummer. The whole rocky place is covered at high tide so I got this shot of the boulders in the stream that flows into the sea there. They did look particularly oily and nice, and I am happy with the result.

I just got Photomatix pro, and put two exposures through the 'Fusion Blend' option. This shot is the result plus some dodging and burning. I am very happy with the look and feel of it compared to HDR. It can blend different focal points together as well as get rid of noise. Superb. I recommend it for a less obvious way of blending images that is fast and reliable. Early days on it though, so will try a few more 'subtle' blends. Thanks to Kevin McNeal for his blog about it, It tipped me over to buying it after having the trial version for ages. Thanks for looking.

Tech specs: 17-40mm, B&W setting in camera and red filter, polariser, 0.6 h and 0.3 s Lee Gnd filters. Manfrotto 190cX Pro4 Tripod, Giottos MH 1300 Ball head. 2 Exposures Fusion Blended.

The tallest surviving tower in Ireland, standing at 34.3m (112 feet), it dates back to the eleventh century. The tower is of limestone construction and leans markedly to one side, the result of being built with shallow foundations above graves.

The Bridge Round House is a diner located at the southeastern end of the Golden Gate Bridge, adjacent to the tourist plaza which was renovated in 2012. The Bridge Round House, an Art Deco design by Alfred Finnila completed in 1938, has been popular throughout the years as a starting point for various commercial tours of the bridge and an unofficial gift shop. The diner was renovated in 2012 and the gift shop was then removed as a new, official gift shop has been included in the adjacent plaza renovations.

We proceeded to navigate around the berg. It was huge, and very interesting from every direction.

Yesterday bought a EOS 70D.

This is the first shot with this camera. Using a Tamron 70-300mm lens.
