Round photos on Flickr

Although this has been photographed countless times by many other photographers, I still decided to rise well before dawn and make the hike out to the viewpoint in hopes of witnessing a spectacular sunrise.

Unfortunately, heavy clouds to the east obscured the sun as dawn came and passed. But I found this unique composition with the layered sandstone framing the bend as the clouds overhead began to clear.

This was shot with an ultra wide lens that makes it a bit hard to get a true sense of scale for how dramatic the view is. The drop from the cliff is 1,000 feet and the river itself is probably somewhere between 50-100 yards wide.

There were a few things we put on our 'to do' list for Copenhagen and this was near the top! I'm not keen on climbing 100s of steps but this tower looked do-able and the inside is a bit different to your average tower!
