A friend of mine has these rooms on the Eufaula Lake, they are elevated rooms and have wonderful views of the lake. If you are ever in Oklahoma look them up 5 great cabins to relax in, Calico Heights. This was the ultimate test for the B700 without a tripod to get the window to open up with the view and still get the room, a bit grainy but you can see the effect from this.
We are fortunate enough to have a few Osprey's in the area and the trick for me, out on a casual photoshoot, was to get close enough for a shot, but not so close as to disturb it. I was kicking myself that I hadn't brought an extender for my lens. This one was returning to his/her penthouse suite to finish a meal.
I gather Ospreys have some interesting adaptations, including a reversible outer toe that allows them to grasp a fish with two toes in front and two behind for a more secure grip. In addition to long hooked talons, they also have spicules on their feet that feel like coarse sandpaper - to help grasp slippery fish - and their nostrils close when they plunge under water in pursuit of prey.
They leave again sometime in the fall and amazingly, can log 160,000 migration miles over their 15-20 year lifespan.
Smile on Saturday: Room with a view.
Every Wednesday Henrietta and the 'blower-man', who blows the leaves away, greet each other through the window of the flat :)
This shot was taken by my daughter from her office on Elizabeth Street, Sydney. Early evening and lovely light and cloud formations at this time.
A magic moment looking east, with the sun going down behind her building. The main thoroughfare of William Street can be seen at centre, leading to the iconic red Coca-Cola sign. The harbour can be seen at left and in the distance to the right are the tall buildings of Bondi Junction.

Room With a View for Smile on Saturday
Apparently this room has the best view of the street. It is his favorite window.
My first shot upon arrival in Rome.
This is the view that greeted me when I checked into my hotel in Rome...I had not requested a special view and was in the least expensive twin room they had....it was a wonderful surprise...
thanks for the link A...it inspired this post... :-)
Another photo of the bird condo, taken after the bird flew off. I need something light after the gloomy morning view.
Thanks for visiting, enjoy each day.
I'm not a religious person, I'm very respectful of other people's beliefs, it's just not my thing, but I do love churches and stained glass windows. I admire the work that goes into creating these beautiful works of art. This one is in one of my local churches and I think its stunning. For Smile on Saturday...Room with a view, hope it fits the theme ! Have a great day, flickr friends.
Something of a record shot but, when the light's right, you have to grab the opportunity.
UK Rail Leasing's locomotive and rolling stock engineering facility is the main subject of this one taken from a hotel window in Leicester's city centre. On 'shed' are a couple of class 57s, units 57306 (left) and 57310, while other locomotives are dotted round the site, including a pair of class 37s, a class 47, and another class 57 - they are the visible ones anyway.
In the foreground is the architecturally interesting Swain Street bridge, and just below that the northern platform ends of Leicester's station. In the background can be seen the elegant lines and steeple of St Saviour's Church - Grade II Listed but sadly closed back in 2005.
This patch of rich autumnal sunlight lasted in various shapes for around 30 minutes with the dark shadow in the background advancing at little more than walking place on this almost windless day.
I'd actually planned the shot to include a passing container train but, while the execution went to plan, the result was just too cluttered for my liking.
With apologies to E.M. Forster.....
