This photo reminds me of a quote from Carl Sagan, "…In a cosmic setting vast and old beyond ordinary human understanding we are a little lonely."
The faint glow of the Zodiacal Light as the stars reflect on the pond. This photo almost didn't happen. It was cloudy the entire day and I almost given up taking picture of the night sky but miraculously the skies cleared long enough to capture the faint glow of the Zodiacal Light, my favorite thing to see in the night time sky.
Shot on a Canon 6D with Rokinon 14mm F2.8 @ 30seconds, ISO 3200, WB 3800K

Testing out my new Rokinon 14mm lens at the Findlay Reservoir. I have a lot of light pollution in the area, so I can't get the best Milky Way. (1898).

With the overnight forecast saying there would be clear skies, I took advantage to drive out to another one of my dark sky spots to do some stargazing/astro shooting. Because I have such great luck, I was afforded the opportunity to be out for about an hour before the clouds started to roll in. As you can see from the shot, the clouds started rolling into my frame and when I decided to pack up, they encompassed the entire night sky.

I've been in the metal shop for the last few weeks, working on this 14' long steel shelf as well as other new components designed to "complete" my living space....1st part is now installed, but not finished....still in a very raw industrial state.
Shot with a Nikon D780 and a Rokinon 14mm F/2.8. Aperture is fully open at ISO3200 6s.
A half-moon significantly washed out the aurora. The city sky glow combined with the moon light resulted in an exposure gradient across the frame; this was normalized in processing however it contributed to the noise on the left side.
